We had the good fortune of connecting with Flosue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Flosue, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The most important factor behind starting my business is to motivate and inspire my family as well as the kids that are just like me growing up in poverty. My life goal is to show them that there’s more to life and that they deserve more/better than what they might be use to.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a r&b artist I love to create. I love everything about music. I love how there’s a song that describes every emotion. Music is powerful and if I couldn’t create I would literally be miserable. Pursuing a music career I feel isn’t easy and from my understanding it never will be to a certain extent, that’s why I feel you definitely have to have a real passion for it because certain obstacles you hit is definitely not for the weak.. One of the things that set me apart from other artist is my sound. I’m so proud to say I have my own sound. One of the most challenging things I’ve faced so far is understanding what type of artist I wanted to be. I feel like when it comes to the style of music especially for women, you kind of feel pressured to rap or sing about money, guys with money or sleeping with a guy for money just because it’s cool. No shade to the woman that do but I had to realize I’m not on that type of time so I chose to stick to what I know which is just processing my feelings and things of that nature. I write from my experiences and my feelings and I think that’s relatable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first I might not be the right person to recommend someone a fun spot lol I’m a foodie that loves aesthetics. If you want to eat at a dope restaurant I might could help with that. It’s kind of my thing to tryout new restaurants. Like this spot called Bar Vegan is definitely next on my list. My everyday life is pretty chill but don’t get it twisted I’m definitely a good host, tell me the vibe you want and I’ll create it. I’m pretty much a go with the flow type person.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to the late Nipsey Hussle. Growing up I use to always say I wanted to leave my “mark” on this earth before I leave and I always kind of struggled with trying to figure out how. It wasn’t until I found out about Nip and understanding the opportunities he created as well as the impact he left in his community I began to understand how I should move. It’s crazy because it isn’t something that I know mentally it’s more so a “spiritual” if that makes sense?! But outside of him I would also like to give a shoutout to my dad! I always say my father is the hardest working man I know! Seeing him work two jobs and seeing how resilient he was definitely stuck with me. And I am so thankful for that. I remember my dad not having a ride to work and for whatever reason he couldn’t catch the bus, that man walked all the way home. I can’t wait to be able to take care of him.
