We had the good fortune of connecting with Aminah Diaz-Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aminah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
At heart, I have always been an entrepreneur. I found myself never really acclimating to the design of corporate industries. I have a strong passion for people and helping them achieve their best selves. One day, I really took the time and asked myself questions such as “What is something that comes naturally to me? How can I better serve the human race? Then it hit me. I need to start my own business. I have always found that no matter what position I obtained, I always found myself having conversations of pushing others to believe in themselves, giving advice, and motivating others to attain the things they ultimately want. I have always been a huge believer in taking care of yourself spiritually, mentally, physically, and even emotionally. Therefore this thriving passion led me to create my wellness company titled M.O.V.E. By Minah which has a double meaning one standing for motivating others victoriously every day and the other meaning of moving your body in the physical sense. This company is dedicated to bringing balance to your every day by aligning your mind, body, and soul. This is completed through the promotion of wellness, functional training, stretch therapy, and wellness coaching.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The world of entrepreneurship is never easy. Still not easy. However, It’s very rewarding at the end of it all. I will say the most challenging lesson I have learned is Discipline. Discipline is what sets you apart from wanting success versus becoming successful. I’ve also learned you are going to be a one-man/woman show where you will wear multiple hats but even in doing so allow others to help you because you can’t do it all yourself. I am a hard worker, determined, and persevering. Strong-minded and Strongly intuitive. You have to believe in yourself and your craft. You have to have faith and trust the process of the pavement of your path. You will get to exactly where you’re supposed to be! Stay Committed.

I want the world to know my brand is designed to help motivate and inspire people. M.O.V.E by Minah is here to not only help and heal the community but the world. My brand is something that I am building to connect the world in a way through the understanding of the mind, strength, and balance of the body, and lightheartedness and experience of the soul.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely visit ponce city market to start. Plenty of eateries and they have newly opened beautiful restaurants such as Bar Vegan and The Atrium. They even have a rooftop with carnival games that anyone can enjoy. Behind the market is access to the beltline. The beltline runs through the city and especially through the highlands where there are plenty of restaurants and shops such as Bar Taco or Barcelona Wine Bar. If you are an active person, I would definitely check out Piedmont park and the active circle, or even if you get a chance visit Stone Mountain for new views and some hiking culture.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My support system includes my family most importantly my mother. My mother is the reason for my drive and the reason why I care for people so much. Growing up watching her care for her community in the manner that she does should never go unnoticed. She always looks out for my best interest and is there whenever I need her. Also, friends turned family whenever I need a pick me up they are there or supporting me at my events. We are nothing without the ones that support us and help us elevate and move forward.
