We had the good fortune of connecting with Latisha Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latisha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Being a risk taker is one of the most important characteristics that one could have. You can’t live your life in fear. People are fearful of starting new things, chasing their dreams, starting over, quitting their job, moving, starting a business. However, the only thing fear does is confine you to one place, it does not allow you to grow nor move forward. Risk taking is very important, and everyone should take risks. I took a risk with my business in 2018, when I quit both of my jobs to focus on lashing. I took a risk when I decided to work during COVID, even though some people closed their business for months to a year. I took a risk when I decided to pick up and move to Atlanta even though I was booked and busy in New Jersey. However, all of these risks, whether they were successful or a failure, they taught me something and allowed for both me and my business to grow. I would not have seen some much success and change in both myself and my business if I did not take risks. In 2019, I attended grad school, thinking that I would graduate, get a job in my field and hopefully make six figures. But because of the risks that I took with my business and how successful it has been, I still have yet to use my degree, and I do not regret it at all. If you want something, you have to go get it, and that’s what I’m doing.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a lash and brow artist. I officially started doing lashes in 2018, and began doing brows in 2020. I specialize in lash extensions, ombré powder brows, brow tint, and brow lamination. By being a lash and brow artist, I was able to meet hundreds of different woman, who also contributed to my success. If it was not for them continuing to support me by receiving services from me and also recommending me to others, I would not have been as successful. The support of my friends and the support of my clients allowed my business to continue to grow. I am glad that I was able to have such an impact in New Jersey, and now I am ready to do the same thing in Atlanta. Starting over has to be one of the hardest things that I have done, but I know that it will all be worth it. There has been a few challenges that I have stumbled across, however, I do not let it affect me. I address it, come up with a solution, and move forward. The only way to go is forward, I refuse to go backward.

I learned that no one will care about your business more than yourself. I also learned that strangers will support you more than people you call your friends. Having a business is a learning experience, there will be ups and there will definitely be downs, but as long as you learn from your mistakes, you can only improve,

I aim to provide a luxury experience with great customer service. I love to empower other women and help them enhance their beauty.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friends love to go out, so I would take them to brunch in the day time on sunday, there’s so many places to brunch. We would take a nap and go to Zari at night. Honestly, we would probably go out to eat every day that she is here, there’s so many places to eat in Atlanta and the food is awesome. We would visit the trap museum, go bowling at painted pin, we would take pictures at the selfie museum, do a little shopping, and visit slutty vegan.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my mother. My father passed in 2005, and my mom has been my rock ever since. Without her, I don’t know where I would be. She is one of my biggest supporters. She encourages me to do what I love, she never questions my goals and she has so much faith in my ideas. When I decided to become a full time lash and brow artist, she didn’t force me to pursue a career in my field, she didn’t question my decision, she literally encouraged me to go for it and has been a listening ear ever since. I owe much of my success to her, because without her support both emotionally and financially, I would not be who I am or where I am.
