We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn Levis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important thing I feel I’ve ever done for my kids was start my business. They see all the ins & outs. How to start, How it is  a struggle and long hours. How we help people, and work with people. I have had my kids work with me for years so They understand it isn’t just a paycheck but a lifestyle- and that it takes long hours, sleepless nights and investing time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Broker and Owner of Gruene Insurance Group. For years I always dabbled in business, but when I started selling insurance part time, and really seeing how so many Truly do Not understand ” How Money works” and how confusing each thing could be, Especially 18 year old and over 65, I feel Called. Insurance is a calling because you have to be people oriented. I truly love people, and when you see how you saved them money, helped them avoid a crisis or just feel safe, it is a huge thing! Was it Easy, no.
Was it worth it, Yes.
I still have so much to learn and teach, for that matter.
Lessons-
1. What you don’t know, can actually hurt you – so constantly learning and growing is key for any business or skill
2. We are not meant to be in business and/ or life alone- Find people who have a similar mission and you can help so many more, Even further!
3. Find a mission you truly believe in, I believe James 1:27 Help Orphans and widows. By living a life that allows you to follow your values, it makes it so much more meaningful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I work in a small historic place called Gruene. Its a tiny little town that has tons of charm. 1st I would take them to eat at Inferno’s pizza. They have Brick over style pizza, all hand tossed and thin. We would have a Stupid Pig, which is their version of a Cuban Sandwich with Wasabi! or their personal pizza. Seriously so good! Then we would go to the little shops. My favorites is Bugs and Roosters, It is a trinket shop and is always timed correctly- Seasonal and city type stuff. We would walk though the few wineries and taste the local flare. And end the evening at Gruene Hall, Oldest dance hall in Texas for what ever local band is playing!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and Foremost my husband John! He is my rock and cheerleader. One key factor of a good business is a good partner! Second would be my friend Dee Woolridge. She is who helped me see that I can be 10x bolder, and would tell me how Bold and courageous I am! I’ve never met John C Maxwell, but he is definitely a mentor, His book 21 Irrefutable laws of leadership is my basis of how I am growing.
