Meet Paulette Edwards | Image Consultant/Lifestyle Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paulette Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paulette, what do you attribute your success to?
God, which is equivalent to (Good – Orderly -Direction) and the reason I say this is because without His direction I couldn’t imagine where I would be. In order to answer this question,  I would have to go back to the beginning….. I knew I had a an eye to create unexpected looks since I was a teenager however, I didn’t understand how far that would take me until I won “Best Dressed,” as my senior superlative. Once reality set in that the random prints, colors and texture combinations that I was pulling together resonated with other people it was a no brainer. You’ve got something here!

PE Image Consulting was solely a vision that seemed so far-fetched while I sat in my room in Bagram, Afghanistan. I would stay up super late creating looks within the Polyvore app and share them on my social media platforms in efforts to stay connected while giving my community of friends style inspiration from thousands of miles away. I knew in order to be successful as an Image Consultant it would take sacrifice, education, vision, discipline and the ability to create discomfort with love, because some people fear change however, it’s necessary.

I honestly feel my success is rooted in my ability to be authentic and relatable within every interaction. When clients work with me it’s like having a “Fashion Bestie.” We talk about Fashion, Life, Challenges, Trends, Emotionally Stability and their “Why.” Creating a space where clients can be open, honest and vulnerable with their thoughts sets me apart.


Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

What sets me apart? It could be classified as my eye for fashion, it could be my ability to love my clients through their pain points or my ability to openly share how Faith and Fashion saved my life. It would honestly depend on who you asked. I am extremely proud of my most recent accomplishment of launching www.pauletteaedwards.com. Faith, drive and resilience got me to where I am today professionally because ideally, I could have easily quit after suffering the loss of my brother. In that moment I felt robbed, confused and upset with God because I didn’t understand how He would allow me to experience such a huge loss. After months of contemplating what to do next I remembered how my brother would always say, “Sis, you’re doing it and I’m so proud of you.” That gentle reminder was exactly what I needed to refocus.

I’ve learned along the way that those that don’t value your knowledge won’t understand your worth however, those that do will invest in themselves and the process. Additionally, I’ve learned regardless of how many (no’s) you receive there is a (yes) on the other side of it. I want the world to know that a beautiful brown girl from Baltimore, Maryland with determination had a vision and made it her reality. Through PE Image Consulting I help empower women to reclaim confidence through Faith and Fashion. Lets face it,  the clothes a person wears only communicates a percentage of who they are. How one feels internally is more important than their outward appearance.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OMG, my friends are in town for a quick trip. The first order of business would be to book a spa appointment at Toccare Day Spa which is Charlotte’s go to destination for custom spa treatments and all things green beauty. After we catch up on all the things (accomplishments, family, life, work and can’t forget about men,) we will grab brunch at Ruby Sunshine. Now this is where we will let our hair down, grab a few mimosas discuss fashion must haves and our agenda for the evening. After a quick run to Southpark Mall, we will rest and relax before we prepare to enjoy a night out at the my dear friend Sir Abstraxxx event, Eclectic Soul Sessions at Members Only Tasting Room And Lounge.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I would have to say God because without him I would be walking around aimlessly without any direction. Secondly, its a no brainer, My Mother Paulette D. Edwards has shown me the importance of perseverance despite any adversity, working with a level of excellence and defying the odds with a smile. I know I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without the endless support from my dedicated family and friends.
