We had the good fortune of connecting with Cherelle Austin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cherelle, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I knew that I needed something to pass down to my daughter. I knew that I didn’t want to leave behind just notebooks and letters when I’m gone. Something with some meaning. Knowing that she’ll have a choice to work for others or not gives me peace at night. I don’t want her feeling obligated to working for others because as long as Family Ties is in business she will always have a choice. I do this for my Family literally so keeping it all connected helped come up with the idea. We also love fashion and clothing. Being able to create what we desire is something that most wouldn’t be able to achieve.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my hustle, determination and dedication. I used to work in retail and still deal with people on a consistent basis so I’m big on customer service as well. Making sure my clients are happy is my number 1 priority. I’m mostly working when the world is sleeping. I get the most peace of mind in the wee hours of the night and believe it or not my brain works best at that time. My brand isn’t for one person, my brand is for everyone! There’s almost nothing we can’t achieve with this business. I’ve learned to be patient and if there’s something that I don’t know…. Figure it out. Use the 24 hours in the day to be as productive as possible and when it’s time to rest, do just that!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Nashville, I would definitely take them to the variety of brunch spots that are around town. Granite City Brewery, HopSmith, Sinema, Stateside Kitchen, Bar Louie and so many more. I don’t party much but I am a huge Foodie and love to try new restaurants. Game Terminal, Top Golf, Willie Bs are some cool spots as well. Depending on the time of year I have many of recommendations. I’ve lived here all my life and have done just about everything.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Family and Friends. They have supported and been there for me since day one, with anything that I do. I’m forever grateful. Most importantly God, for giving me the strength to keep going when I’m overwhelmed and want to give up. My husband for dealing with me behind the scenes. Wearing many hats isn’t easy at all but what I see in the future will be so worth it.
