We had the good fortune of connecting with Tinell Ruff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tinell, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for my business with having a real life motto that I live by. My motto is ” Why would you want to be anyone else, when you can just be you!”. The idea came from really wanting to walk in my own identity and do it unapologetically, but also inspire others to do the same. I combined my motto with my training and love for fitness to create my brand JusBYou, which focuses on helping women reach their body goals without having to feel pressured to undergo surgery like society promotes. JusBYou is all about reaching your body goals, but being able to just be you! I feel that it is very important for you to feel comfortable with who you are no matter what and that you can improve any part of yourself and still just be who you are! It’s all about embracing yourself and your journey.
What should our readers know about your business?
JusBYou is truly unique because it’s not only a brand, but a lifestyle. To have the courage to be who you truly are is not easy! What I’m most excited about is the journey to be a world-known brand and to empower women to love themselves unconditionally, but at the same time knowing they can reach whatever goals they see for themselves. Whether it be business, fitness, personal, etc. Honestly, it’s taken hard work to get to where I am today and I still have a lot of growing to do! My biggest challenge to overcome was getting out of my comfort zone and not being afraid to be transparent so that I can encourage others to be. I’ve learned a few lessons along the way. One of the important ones being, to never stop believing in yourself and your dreams no matter if you have support of others or not. Second, would be to celebrate yourself, clap for yourself, be proud of every accomplishment, big or small. You know how much work you’ve put in to get here. I want the world to know that I used to be like a lot of other people, afraid to be myself, say and do what I really wanted worried about being judged or perceived the wrong way, but I want the world to know it is okay to just be you! God made you to be like you not them! This is what JusBYou is all about. I’m a black woman that has had struggles, financially, mentally and physically but I am overcoming all of them and believe that now I am on the road to walking in my purpose and being the person that I am supposed to be. To just be you is life-changing and will give you a sense of freedom that no one can take away!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would start off by taking them to one of my favorite places Lazy Dog in Rancho Cucamonga for their wonderful Sunday brunch. Then we would go to the luxury theatre where they have nice seats and serve wine and other adult beverages. We also would go to Mama Por Dios to grab some good food and drinks with a awesome atmosphere to hang out. Lastly, we might take a hike up Mount Rubidoux which is about 3.2 miles and had an amazing view once you make it to the top.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout-out my mentor Keenan Williams for giving me the knowledge and tools to be able to successfully create my brand and become an owner of my own business. I’m forever grateful. I would also like to shout out my love, fiancé and partner Andrew a.k.a Twelve for supporting and helping me throughout the whole process of building JusBYou. He has contributed so many ideas, his time and energy into my brand, I truly appreciate him for all he has done.
