We had the good fortune of connecting with Cymone Coker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cymone, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My end goal is similar to most, which is to be retired and laying up at my beach house in the islands. Professionally, I hope to be a New York Times Best Selling children’s book author. I would like my Kids cooking schools/book stores to be all over the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently have a catering and meal prep service company. Although I believe that Atlanta is a city of opportunity, and you can be anything you want, work ethic plays a major roll in the success of your business. Being consistent with your product and services is what’s going to keep customers coming back. Learning how to communicate was one of the biggest things I’ve learned along the way. Sometimes you have to realize that what makes sense to you, may not be so easy and make sense to others. I’ve learned how to read my customers, so that I can understand them and give them the best service possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta, has plenty of great restaurants and attractions. If I was to have a friend come in town, we would first have to start with brunch. Toast on Lenox and Breakfast at Barneys are two of my favorite brunch spots. You can’t do Atl with out doing brunch! I would take them to attractions like the Martin Luther King Tour, Botanical Gardens, Centennial Park, Ponce City Market rooftop, Chateau Elan Winery, and if it’s football season we would definitely go to Rocky Mountain Pizza to catch a Philadelphia Eagles game. Go Birds! For dinner and drinks we would hit up Marcels, C&S Seafood and Oyster Bar, Roc Steady, Apt.4b, and one of my favorite hang out spots, Fellaship Cigar Lounge.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my mother. Over the years she has taught me how to be a strong, independent, woman. Without her, I would not be the woman I am today. Her constant encouragement and willingness to help me reach my goals is unmatched. She is my biggest cheerleader and I love her for that!
