We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamon Hopkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was realizing how much freedom I would have. Freedom to follow my passion without having regrets later on down the road of what I “could’ve” did. I’m in love with my business and wouldn’t have it any other way.

What should our readers know about your business?
My brand is Diamon’s Designs. I am a sew in and natural hair specialist. It started off with me learning how to make wigs because no one could do my hair in college. So I started my journey to hair school for my excitement for natural hair and actually learning the importance of the scalp. After hair school I began to experiment with creating my own hair products in 2019. I have natural hair so of course I tried on my hair before realizing any products. I’ve learned so many obstacles come with being a business owner and no matter the obstacle it’s always possible to overcome. Sleepless nights, tears, angry, rejections, different energies, so many things come with being an entrepreneur that the ones that are not will never understand. No matter the storm always know there’s gold at the end! Having great customer service/experience is the key! My brand will be known for growing our beautiful black hair! Natural products no chemicals!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was in town, I would take her to my favorite restaurant which is mamas cantina! I love Mexican food. We would visit pediment park for a nice walk and view of the city. Botanicals garden is a great place to visit also. I love doing very relaxed chill things. Very calming, Definitely would go get a massage from harmony massage!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my beauty instructors at Empire Beauty School for helping me through my difficult but beautiful journey. Also, I want to give a shoutout to my grandmother and godmother. Thank you for believing in my dreams and never giving up on me.
