We had the good fortune of connecting with Elliott “Broadway Miller” Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elliott “Broadway Miller”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I mean, risks are just a part of life. We take risks everyday without even knowing. Going to church, attending a concert or eating your favorite meal, there is a risk that something can go wrong. Perception is everything, though. Those risks are just opportunities, key opportunities to learn something valuable to apply to your future. I ran a risk putting out the song “James”. But the opportunity to make many people aware of a senseless crime committed against a black man in Texas overrides that risk. I ran a risk at failing with my first company because money wasn’t being generated. This gave me the opportunity to learn more about marketing and tap into resources I never new existed. Miller takes a “L” as a lesson, not as a loss!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a creative. Whether it’s music or business, I just like to create! I pride myself in knowing that my journey is relatable. In 2015 I dropped a project called “Loyalty Over Love” which was me going through the motions trying to figure out what is most important in my life. We have ALL been at this point. Then in 2020, I released “Isolation”. This came out about 3 months into the pandemic when we were literally isolated from one another. But the meaning of that album was based on reflection. Internalizing all of your success and failures, I mean REALLY looking in the mirror to congratulate yourself for what you are doing right and holding yourself accountable for what you are doing wrong. The pandemic honestly put the battery in my back to create more businesses. I started a music production company with Sam Buck & Jabriel called “Press Play”. I started creating fashion with “ISO By Miller”. I have a multifamily trash and floor cleaning service called “Valued Services & Specialties”. I began “Miller Media” to film promo videos for other businesses and influencers. Definitely going to get in the NFT and adult beverages space soon. As long as I’m alive, I’m going to do it all!
Things have never been easy. There’s a bunch of failing and reassessing I do almost on a daily basis. The #1 rule is to NEVER STOP. Take a breath, slow down, or try a different route if you have to, but NEVER STOP!
The Broadway Miller brand will be remembered as rich. Not rich as in money (although we want that too lol) but rich as in thought, ambition, substance, value and resilience.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man! Let’s see…. Ok well, we gotta hit up Breakfast At Barney’s for the Acai Pineapple Bowl. CLUTCH!!!
Then we hit WISH and get some sneakers and gear.
Then we would round up the team and go to Parhelion Studios and record a bit.
Go to Boogaloo Lounge for happy hour.
Slide to Joystick GameBar and dust everybody on NBA Jams.
Take a trip east and have a cigar and some cognac with MJ at Life & Times Cigar Lounge
Then meet DJ RU Major at Tiger Tiger ATL for some nightlife turn up.
Lastly, Blue Flame!!!
Oh, and if I feel like making a trip to Buckhead after that, we will get some late night tacos from Mama’s!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom! She has been by my side during the ups and downs, rights and wrongs of my life and journey. Hi, Ma! I made it in ShoutOut. WE MADE IT! lol
