We had the good fortune of connecting with DB Bedford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DB, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The best decision I ever made was to replace an old belief with a new belief as it relates to taking the time to actually read books.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I am an Emotional Intelligence Consultant and my business is dedicated to facilitating trainings for company’s and coaching to individuals. I also teach the community how to Day Trade leveraging Emotional Intelligence.

I got to this point by realizing how my lack of Self Awareness and inability to control my own emotions got me into so much trouble growing up.

It wasn’t an easy path to get here at all. After being arrested several times between the ages of 13-23yrs old I decided that I needed to take control over my life and start managing my emotions.

Once I did the shadow work on myself and seen how it changed the trajectory in my life then it became second nature for me to show others how to do the same.

I’ve learned so many lessons along the way but the main one that stands out is understanding that “When emotions are high, logic will always be low.”

I want the world to know that emotions are the number one driver in your decision making process and to make sure that you are honest about your feelings and how you respond to situations.

My story is a classic example of just because you have a few nightmares in life doesn’t mean you stop dreaming.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If my best friend was out here in Oakland for the week we would start off our mornings walking the lake followed by hitting up a couple of signature breakfast spots like Lakeshore Cafe.

I’m vegetarian so I enjoy introducing my guest to all of the cool vegan restaurants like Souley Vegan, Vegan Mob, Malibu Burger and Don’t Be Chick’n.

When it comes to hanging out we would definitely have to stop by M2 Oakland for drinks and music. We would shoot some pool over at Crown Billiards over in San Ramon then finish off the weekend in Las Vegas to catch a Raiders Game.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

There are so many different people that helped me at different phases of my life that got me here today.

If I have to pick just one then I have to go back to the beginning and shout out Jessica Scannell who was the lead at Youth Alive! back in the 90’s

She gave me my first opportunity to start doing direct service work in the community which help shape me into the man that I am today.
