We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariana Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ariana, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Baking has always been therapy for me. It’s something I know I’ll love for the rest of my life. As long as I’m doing what makes me happy, it won’t seem like work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the owner of Tía Azúcar. We are a travel bakery based out of Lexington, Ky. We specialize in decorated cakes and cupcakes. Aside from that, we also offer cheesecakes, brownies, cookies and cinnamon rolls. We’re excited to meet and serve new people all over the country. We got to where we are today by doing a lot of trial and error. It definitely was not easy. However, that comes with the territory. It won’t always be sunshine and rainbows but knowing you created this brand and every move you make reflects you makes you extremely cautious. I’ve learned to keep going. No matter what. Entrepreneurship is not easy at all but it’s worth it. Give yourself the same grace you give other people and keep going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re visiting Slutty Vegan first. That’s a place we’ve always wanted to go but have yet to try. Next we’d probably visit the Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and the Trap Museum. We’re both introverts so we don’t go out too much… I’d most likely want to end the trip with a nice dinner at Monee’s Kitchen- a local, private chef.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, Shoutout to God for blessing me with talent. Next would have to be my friends from clubhouse who have turned into family . They’ve helped me grow in so many ways and have helped me open my eyes to the endless possibilities. Lastly, I’d have to shout out all of my customers since they’re constantly supporting me and motivating me to keep going.
