We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShae Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShae, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Washington D.C. I’ve lived in Illinois, Tennessee, Ohio and currently reside in South Carolina. My Dad served in the military before becoming a Physician and my Mom also worked in the government. My parents are my biggest inspirations. I grew up in a Christian household which shaped who I am today. All that I am, and all that I have is because of the Grace of God. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and was baptized at age 14. I’ve always had a bubbly personality and a heart and zealous spirit for serving the Lord. At age 21, my first book was published titled “Look at God” while I was in undergrad at East Tennessee State University. I have a gift of encouraging others and loved sharing scriptures, quotes and prayers among anyone I’ve encountered to spread the Gospel and give God Glory. My desire is to be ALL God has called me to be. Now at the age of 30, I have four published books, I earned my Master’s in Education from South Carolina State University, and have been a middle School Counselor the past three years. I live by my favorite Scripture Romans 12:21 “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” and my motto that God used my tears to water my dreams.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I became an author at a young age. Again my first book was published at age 21. I believe God chose me and set me apart to share His Word in a unique way. I share personal testimonies, prayers, and scriptures to inspire others. I truly believe we are blessed to BE a blessing. I am most proud of the feedback and responses I receive from my books. Such as, “What an awesome story. You are an amazing Woman of God. You have found your gift. It’s the gift of writing – it’s the gift of encouragement – it’s a gift of light for others in dark places.” Your testimony will help so many others. Your smile lights the world. Keep on being the person God made you. You are unique – you are kind – if only you could see what else God has for you. Keep walking with God, and never let go of his hand. The best is yet to come.” -Xanthus With that being said, it hasn’t always been easy I used my pain and turned it into purpose. My Pastor says God anoints you with others in mind. I had to overcome depression in 2010. I’ve learned the race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. I am more than a conqueror. I want the world to know through my books and my story that your story matters and that broken things can become blessed things if you let God do the mending.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Atlanta although I am not from there. I have family that lives there and visit often. I would go to Ponce City Market, Historical Museums, the World of Coca-Cola, go to a concert or Professional Football, Basketball, Atlanta Braves Baseball game. The food is great everywhere. The most exciting thing I’ve done in Atlanta was at Piedmont Park at Midtown Music Festival before Covid-19. It was absolutely amazing!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my future husband Brion Hayes. He has literally been my rock and a positive motivating force in my life..my worship partner and my best friend. Also, I want to shoutout my church Forward City. Pastor Travis Greene and Dr. Jackie Greene have helped me grow and have increased my faith significantly. I have seen God reward our faithfulness and many miracles, signs and wonders within the ministry. They have poured out their lives to the world and I am truly blessed to be under their covering. I love the Godly example they are and they lead with Grace and are one of the most humble people I have ever met. Thank you for your heart!
