We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Rhino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
On the Enneagram Personality Test, I am a Challenger. I was always the gymnast my teammates would require to try a skill first, so that if I survived, they might try too. I think that can easily sum up a part of my personality but also my perspective on risk. In 2015, Loved my job. I had been there for over 11 years. I loved the people I worked with, my work and my athletes, however I wanted more for my staff, my athletes and me so I took a leap of faith and started my own company. Was I scared? Yes, absolutely but fear only controls us if we let it. My athletes would never be as successful as they are in gymnastics if I taught them to fear taking a chance, so maybe taking risks pays off in the end. My 8 year old daughter, a competitive gymnast at The Peach Pit often tells her teammates, “You can do any skill you want but you have to give it a try.”

What should our readers know about your business?
The Peach Pit is truly unlike any other. It is not just a gymnastics, cheerleading or dance studio, it is a destination or a home. We truly treat each one of our families, athletes and staff as part of our own so that they may feel confident in their abilities to tumble, cheer or just attack the world. The Peach Pit business model was based on honesty, love and commitment to doing things just a step above the rest. We want to create that “WOW” factor, not just in our coaching but in the hand written notes, personal communication, peach hand soaps, clean studios, massage or comfortable leather chairs in the lobbies, studio appearance and gymnastics equipment quality or just the above and beyond customer service that our team offers. I have learned that you cannot please everyone but you can offer them your best daily and we try to do just that at The Peach Pit.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am an Atlanta Native unlike most, so I have so many favorite spots. I love breakfast with an Avocado Toast at The Chastain by the fire pit or a Lavender Honey Latte at Cupanions for a coffee with a friend or business meeting. The Chastain provides an opportunity to walk, play tennis or golf right afterwards incorporating fitness into my “work or meetings”. Other options would be a Golden Latte at Muchacho after a class at Highland Yoga and walk the beltline. Hot dinner or lunch spots are The Garden Room, Grana, Arnette’s or The Select. I love Seed too, a hidden gem in Marietta. Best hangout spots are the pool at St. Regis, a concert at Chastain Park Amphitheatre or the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. You can never go wrong with one of Justin Amick’s places, The Painted Duck or The Painted Pin. I’m a total Bohem so anything outdoors like Lake Burton, the Chattahoochee trails, Old Edwards Inn or the Ritz Lake Oconee are my favorite short travels away from Atlanta.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my Shoutout to my incredible team and circle of trust. The Peach Pit would not be the top gymnastics studio in Atlanta without the heart and soul of our business, our coaches. They dedicate their minds and bodies into the psychology and physical growth of each individual athlete. The past two years have been exceptionally tough for children and young athletes. Going from training 12-20 hours a week for our Competitive Programs to a couple strength training classes on Zoom changed our athletes’ bodies, minds and ultimately the sport psychology of their gymnastics. My team had to work through all of this as coaches while ultimately not knowing the longevity and security of their own jobs and families. My General Managers, Anne & Stephanie, worked alongside me and my circle of mentors to find creative and innovative ways to keep our business not only open to thriving, where it is today. You are never as strong as the shoulders you stand on so thank you to my people for caring so much about The Peach Pit and these coaches and athletes. It’s absolutely thrilling to coach both athletes and mentor my team. It truly is a circle of trust, a family.
