Meet Michie Marshall | Creator and Designer of Tutus N U

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michie Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Actually, the artistic creative career kind of pursued me. I have a degree in business Management, and was working as the Office Manager of this company making good money. I had just purchased a house and then all of a sudden, the company decided to move to Tampa, FL and since I just purchased a house, I couldn’t move so I was out of a job.

I had to do something quick.

In my spare time I use to make tutus for my daughter because loves tutus, she use to sleep in them and want to wear them all the time so I use to make them for her and when she went out she always got compliments. People wanted to know where she got them from and I started selling them here and there, sparingly.

One day my cousin told me about a fashion show that was coming up and that I should do it. I did this one fashion show Fashion 4wards show created by Audrie Beharie in 2016 and the feedback I got was so awesome I instantly fell in love with it. The audience wanted to buy some of the fashions right off the runway. I was hooked. One fashion show led to another and another and it was like a snowball effect and I haven’t stopped since.

So basically, my hobby became a passion and the passion turned into a business.

I have met so many amazing and creative people in this career and I absolutely love it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Tutus N U is a fashion line that makes customized tutus made “Just for You”. We have cute customized and creative tutus for kids and adults for all occasions. Birthdays, fashion shows, pageants, weddings, themed party’s and more!

The thing that makes me the proudest is the feedback I get from my customers and clients. This is one of the greatest rewards for me is to see someone satisfied and smiling in something that you have created. The confidence I see in my customers and clients are so rewarding.

This is hard work and it takes a lot of dedication especially when you get burned out and the creative juices stop flowing. But you have to keep going and never quit. I learned it’s ok to take a break but “Just Don’t Quit”

I have to continue to encourage myself when and my creative juices are not flowing I just keep my faith in God and he keeps me going

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would go to a Comedy Club. We would go to make some candles at Bear & Honey in 5 points Mid Atlanta. Restuarant Roc South Cuisine

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a Shout Out to Audrie Beharie of Fashion 4wardz fashion show who opened up a door me and has taught me alot about the pageant and fashion industry. My daughter Willow aka Baby Tutu who helps me keep my creative juices flowing and to my husband and daughter Likiana who always supports me in everything I do. I couldn’t do it without yall.
