We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Dallas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The biggest factor is authenticity. Staying true to your vision and being genuine goes a long way. It sales itself! Despite what is shown on social media with everyone giving a sales pitch, you don’t need it! Just be you!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a self taught multimedia artist based in Milwaukee, WI.

I started drawing and sketching at an early age and gravitated to painting in 2013. My love for hearts is one of the staple images you will see throughout my work.

I love my African American facial features which are also highlighted very frequently. I believe as a black artists our art should reflect our dynamic selves and not just be limited to black, brown, and blue.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Zaffiro’s has the BEST thin crust cheese pizza!

Sherman Phoenix has a bunch of small business and food. But what makes this place special is most of the businesses located there a black business!

Brady Street has an array of bars and restaurants!

Uncle Julio’s has the BEST Mexican food! You won’t be disappointed!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is to the city of Milwaukee. Not only is it my birthplace but where my support and creativity has manifested itself into what I showcase today.
