We had the good fortune of connecting with Keela Starr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keela, how do you think about risk?
I believe that taking risks is a part of development and growth in life. If you are not willing to take a risk, you are not willing to challenge yourself and discover your true destiny. How will you ever know your full potential without risks? I’ve taken risks throughout my life. I left a “solid” corporate job to dive into the entertainment industry. I come from a family with the foundation of pensions and unions…stability. I decided after 6 years of working for IBM and a stint of retail management, that I wanted to live a life of adventure and discovery on my own terms.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the CEO of “K.Starr Management”. K. Starr Management’s a 10 year old company that scouts, develops and manages the careers of model’s worldwide. In the start of 2019, I became the Co-Partner along with my business partner Margo Gabriel and we started, “The Oui Agency”. The Oui Agency’s a full service boutique talent agency that represents actors and models primarily in the Southeast region. I’m also a Reiki Master that started “The Nova Center”, 2 years ago. The Nova Center’s my Reiki practice, and I make organic body products that’s charged with Reiki Energy. I love the idea of helping others and nurturing the many relationships that have been placed in my life. One of the things that has always excited me in my career is to discover a talent and to watch them on a fashion runway, in a magazine or on television. To experience their personal goals fulfilled means everything to me. It allows me to see the manifestation of my purpose actually play out. As a Reiki Therapist, observing the healing process is always rewarding for the client as well as myself. With my journey, I’ve experienced every emotion you can imagine. There have been so many ups and downs, it’s literally been like a roller coaster. With every plot twist and turn I’ve had to hold fast to a deep trust and faith in knowing that in every valley I’ve always had the grace to peak again. I’ve had a tenacity to cry and weep, but rise again to be open for the next idea or open door. It’s all about following the breadcrumbs of life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, for starters they will definitely need to rest up, because I LOVE to hang out at some of my favorite places in town. When my friends come to visit it’s normally a very short stay, so I love driving them around our city because we have some of the coolest areas to hang out and people watch. Some of my favorite restaurants in the city are, Anis Bistro and Le Bilboquet in Buckhead, Kaiser’s Chophouse in Sandy Springs, Carbonara in Dunwoody, McKendrick’s in Dunwoody, Marcel’s and Bacchanalia in West Midtown, Mary Mac’s in Downtown (an Atlanta legend), No 246 in Decatur and Yeah Burger in Virginia Highland’s. For late night cocktails, the St. Regis lounge, KR Steakbar, The Regent Club and if we want to have old school fun, Johnny’s Hideaway. If we’re shopping, definitely the Shops of Buckhead, Ponce City Market, Avalon and Phipps plaza. If they’ve never been to Atlanta I will take them to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic home and center. And just for a laugh I’ll drive them by the Waffle House museum (also a guilty pleasure).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mom and Dad are so supportive of me and my multi-faceted career. They’ve never wavered in believing in all of my crazy ideas. They are both super strong, hard working individuals that I appreciate immensely.
