We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquese Quiles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marquese, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was if I can provide a product or service for my community and it has enough value then my community will provide for me in return.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think one thing that sets me apart from most businesses is how I support other businesses in my field. I see no problem with reposting or telling my followers to book with another photographer or videographer because we offer different things.
The first business I ever had was making toys in elementary school. Seeing how much being supportive of other kids that started doing the same thing helped me get my name out there showed me that I should “invest” in the “competition”.
Nothing is ever easy if it’s valuable or worth having. I’ve played football for over 16 years and even competed at the collegiate level and that instilled values of hard work, dedication and discipline. That’s how I overcome my obstacles.
People don’t remember what you say. But they never forget how you made them feel. So once again, take care of the people and they will take care of you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not particularly sold on things to do and it can vary depending on which friend is visiting. Lately I’ve been really enjoying this restaurant in Buckhead, Taverna. I visit Ponce a lot more now a days. There’s a lot of shows, good food, and nice stores there. If you’re and out doors type, then Tallulah gorge or Toccoa falls. I haven’t been to this place in years, but the best go-cart racing is in Dawsonville, Atlanta Speedway. You can even take your cars out on the track.
Overall though I’m not much of a consumer. I like to support the creatives that host their own events.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A list of those I owe a lot of success to in a chronological order: Pyro Melik, Brian Bell, Crystal Mulgrave, Showout, Kairi Al-Amin, Janine Phillips, Certified Dream, Marlon Ratliff.
