We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Fuqua and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I reached my mid 20s, I starting looking into what I wanted my career to be. I had held many jobs, possessed many talents, and knew I wanted to work for myself. Knowing all of these things I had no real “plan” in my head. It wasn’t until I began to write everything down that app of the thoughts in my head began to make sense to me. I was able to execute everything I wanted to do.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve only been in business under the name, “Everything Under Her Sun” since February. I launched with a Valentine sale and did very well, much better than I expected if I’m being honest. My father passed a few days prior to my launch due to complications from COVID and I was not only grieving his loss, but helping my mother plan a funeral and still keep my three children from going crazy while in quarantine. To say I faced challenges would be an understatement. But at the end of that launch in February my business took off and hasn’t stopped since. I’m now in the process of growing and adding more services to my roster. I have so many thoughts in my head about my growth, but I’m learning to slow down and conquer one task at a time. I want people to look at the work that I do and know that this is not just my business, but my passion. I love what I do and I take pride in that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is full of great everything! We could start off Ponce City Market. Bar Vegan is amazing! And I’m nowhere near a vegan. Bar Taco has great drinks. We’d have to go the high museum, have a picnic in Piedmont park. We could have a night for a fine dining and go to The Consulate. Their food is amazing! Most of my favorite places involve getting cute and going to eat and drink.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I could shoutout anyone it would be the high school I graduated from, Stephenson. Their marketing class and school store is the reason I discovered balloons and the beauty they can add. I helped manage the store my junior and senior year and the teacher at the time, Marylin Hollis, encouraged our creativity everyday. I loved that class!
