We had the good fortune of connecting with Genya Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Genya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Here I was a young adult just finished my undergraduate degree from Savannah State University in Sociology. Not sure what I would do next, I haven’t really experienced a lot of entry-level positions and I didn’t want to sit in front of a computer all day. As a college student, you tend to find jobs that work with your school schedule. Then, I would have people coming to me to find those odd jobs, or to put them on to some of my previous gigs. So, I started The Pen2Pad Agency where we provide professional services to small business entrepreneurs. We also created a Work-Study program for high school juniors, seniors, and college students to obtain valuable work experience, mentorship, internship, part-time employment, and resume building.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing in life comes easy. What sets The Pen2PAd Agency apart from others is our ability to adapt, learn, take initiative, and the eagerness to be innovative across a large spectrum to some of Atlanta’s upcoming small business entrepreneurs. Our platform caters to young adults and small business entrepreneurs just trying to figure things out. Entrepreneurship is already difficult enough without adding the fact you don’t have reliable help, don’t have time to complete certain tasks or just the overwhelming stressor of feeling like you’re in it alone. The world needs to know that The Pen2Pad Agency is here to provide professional support in areas of Marketing, Administration, Management, and Daily Operations. Our Agency customize packages to fit the needs of the clients as they see fit whether it’s hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or project base.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My recognition shout-out goes to Ms. Kamille Gilmore, owner of DanceATL & Kameo Production Studios. Our relationship all started while I was working with her mother in “Corporate America” at the Social Security Administration. She introduced us, which transitioned into a 7-8 year working relationship. This is where I started to develop the blueprint to my business, she was actually one of the few I presented the idea to. Ms. Kamille allowed me to use creative control during the day-to-day operations of her establishment. She would call me her “right hand” or “her brain” because I knew the ins and outs with an answer to any question. You can say, I definitely ran the facility while she traveled to choreograph some of the hottest artists in the industry. It truly is an honor to be trusted with such a prestigious opportunity to tap into entrepreneurship while managing and overseeing 4-6 employees. If I had to dedicate my success to someone it’s her! Thank you!
