We had the good fortune of connecting with Rhonda Peterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rhonda, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I didn’t really make a conscience decision to pursue an artistic or creative career, it was something that organically happened. I was always interested in doing things that were more creative in nature, and so I followed those interests.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an interior designer, writer, and content creator, with not only a love for all things art and design, but also a heart for service. I think both my clients and colleagues not only see my talent as a designer, but also my genuine love for people and my desire to make positive impactful changes in their lives and their environments. I wouldn’t say it was easy to excel professionally, because all things worthy and valuable take work. However, because I practice being authentically me, I think that was/is my power. The biggest lesson I learned along the way is that “Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you” is not always the best course to take. This is why active listening is a huge part, I think, of having success in any area. What works for me, may not necessarily work for others. What I want the world to know about me is that by practicing being authentic, in everything I do and creating space for others to “be,” I’ve also given space for opportunities for me to “be” grow, thrive, and live a life filled with joy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely, my mom! She has always encouraged me to move in the direction of my dreams. Also, my daughter, who through trying to be the best role model for her, forced me to level up and walk it like I talk it. My son, who has a speech disability (Apraxia of speech) and is limited in his verbal communication; however has never allowed that to stop him from being great; showed me I have the ability to speak words that people will understand, so speak up, ask for what I want, and be a cheerleader for others.
