We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Petty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikki, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Ever since I was a little girl I had never really been afraid of many things and I believe I carried that over into my adult years. I am originally from Cleveland Ohio and once I graduated college I decided “Hey, moving to Georgia is something I’ve always wanted and though I don’t have much family, I still want to go”. So when I started my women’s boutique ‘BriightVibez’ I had the same mindset. I barely had any money at the time so I decided to risk all that I had in order to follow my passion. All I kept remembering was how much I loved clothes and how much I’d be able to help women out there who didn’t really have a set idea on their style. Taking risk might sound scary but when it comes to following your dreams, sometimes it’s necessary and when you look back, it usually isn’t something that you regret. If something gives you butterflies and that little tingly feeling in your stomach, then you should follow your intuition and go for it. Life is short, so why not take risk and go for your dreams ?

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Briightvibez Fashion is a women’s boutique that is dedicated to boldness and bright colors. I founded my business in June 23rd of 2020, on my birthday actually. Was it easy? Absolutely not, at the time I hadn’t had much saved, well not enough to start a business, but to at least give me a push. For the first almost year I did literally everything on my own. From buying the merchandise, to shipping the packages, and running my social media pages. I did all of this while still working a full time job at 40 hours a week. I’ve learned since then to never give up, it’s all worth it because it’s MINES and I can make it however I want, which is extremely fun to me. I want the world to know that ‘Briightvibez’ is a place of fun and creativity. Will you found an outfit for a lazy Saturday? Will you find an outfit for the club? The answer to that question is both.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Georgia there is always SO much to do. I’d definitely consider myself to be the complete opposite of a homebody. If my bestie came into town I’d surely have to show her the Skyline park which is basically a carnival on a rooftop. I’m also a seafood lover so we’d have to go by Juicy Crawfish or Juicy Crab to grab us some food. Lastly, working out with great views is never a bad thing and I love Stone Mountain Park so we’d go there as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shoutout to my mother, Latisha. Without her I would have no idea that my love for shopping and for women’s fashion was so deep. When I was a little girl shopping was my mother and I’s favorite hobby. I just remember every Saturday we would go to the mall empty handed and leave with so many beautiful and unique pieces. During that time is where I gained my own sense of style and creativity. I learned what good clothing textures consisted of, how to be unique and how to have fun while doing it. To this day me and my mom still talk about fashion over our phone conversations and share photos of different items that we found online. Without her, I am not even sure what my interest would be today.
