We had the good fortune of connecting with Abrein Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abrein, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I wanted to spread the message of health and wellness by being an example.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am building a health revolution with my company Hygher Power, which focused on a plant-based lifestyle, exercise, family, and a more balanced life. I believe that life is not about how many years you have left in this life, it’s about how much life that you have left in the years. Unfortunately, too many people tear themselves down mentally, physically, and spiritually chasing physical wealth while forgetting the most valuable thing in this world which is themselves. People care more about the types of fuel that they put in their cars than the quality of fuels that they are putting in their bodies.

After seeing so many family members and friends suffering from lifestyle related sicknesses it started to weigh heavily on my soul. As a result of my upbringing, I too had a bad relationship with food and would find myself in a constant battle to lose weight. The sobering reality for me was that minorities, specifically African-Americans are dying too early due to poor food choices and lack of exercise.

Very early in my life I said that I would set out on a mission to change this. It has not been easy at all but over the years I have helped enlighten and motivate enough individuals to give me hope. My mission is to reach millions. I have learned that most people will not change until they are absolutely fed up or forced by a physician. But as long as I plant the seed of health and wellness in the mind, it will grow. I inspire and motivate a lot of individuals by leading by example. I practice what I preach every single day and I share it with my followers.

I want the world to know that Hygher Power is all about helping individuals become the best versions of themselves by realizing that no matter where you are in life, up or down, you have not reached your full potential. There is a reservoir of power and strength that we all possess but have not tapped into because we do not believe that it exists.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First things first we are hitting the gym to set the tone for the day! My main gym is Life Time Fitness so we would get us a great workout in, hit the Jacuzzi, the sauna, then the Life Cafe for a healthy replenishing breakfast.

For lunch I would take them to one of my favorite food spots in Atlanta, Tassili’s Raw Reality. Also, being that I am plant-based, I like to discover new vegan spots which are popping up all the time here. So a couple of times out of the week we would visit some new plant-based restaurants.

I love culture and history so the High-Museum of art is another spot that we would go to because the atmosphere breathes creativity and history. Anytime I interact with anyone, I want then to leave better and more enlightened than they were before we connected, even if it’s one word or one thought “better” I did my job.

The Belt-Line is another dope spot we would go to. Ponce City Market and Little 5 points are also places that I would take them.

I don’t drink but I will occasionally go to a bar or lounge. One of my favorite spots is Chef Rob’s Caribbean Cafe. They have a really great vegan dish call Rasta Pasta that I really enjoy. Cafe Intermezzo is also a dope spot, Suite Food Lounge, MJQ Concourse, there are a few more but since the pandemic going out is not at the top of my list.

We would go to the West End because the area is brimming with health and wellness spots, a lot of vegan and health-centered businesses are there.

Then lastly, we would visit a few of Atlanta’s most popular parks. My favorites are Centennial Olympic Park, Piedmont Park, and Westside Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not have the drive, the vision, or the desire to succeed if it were not for my mother, my brother, my Queen, and my daughters.
