We had the good fortune of connecting with Reather Gardner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Reather, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
What is the ultimate goal? Since moving to Indiana, I’ve been asking myself this same question every day for the past 6 years. In 2015, I relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, to attend the University of Indianapolis. I was a pre-med student at the time, and I said to myself, “This is what I want to do., but what I want evolved over time. If it wasn’t something I enjoyed doing every day, I couldn’t picture myself getting up every day and doing the same thing. I wanted to accomplish something that I was enthusiastic about. I adore fashion, beauty, jewelry, and handbags. I’ve always known what I wanted to achieve, but I have never taken the necessary steps to make it happen. Customer service, recruiting, insurance, and medical billing are among the skills I’ve acquired over the years . I’ve done a lot of things, but none of them have ever made me happy. I choose to do something that I know will make me happy, something that will flourish, and something that will offer prosperity to future generations. I want to raise a family and be able to give them everything I never had. I aim to be a successful business owner who owns property and other enterprises by the end of my career.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I didn’t decide to establish my company until the epidemic. I used to work for an insurance firm as a property and casualty underwriter. I’m pleased to claim that, because to my significant job experience, I’m capable of doing just about anything, and that if I work hard and learn something new every day, I’ll succeed. I think about all the years I spent working for other organizations, providing the finest customer service and working hard to bring in more business, and I wanted to do this for myself; I needed to do this for myself. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m taking things one day at a time. I know things will be difficult at times, but I remember past obstacles I’ve faced and know I’m strong enough to persevere. Right now, I’m still expanding my business and working full time as a staffing supervisor. To keep myself going, I tell myself every day, “work your 9 to 5; don’t let it work you.” I am excited to see individuals wearing some of the outfits and jewelry that I offer on my website, and I hope to one day have physical stores all over the world. I want the rest of the world to know that if I can do it, so can you. Don’t allow anything to stand in your way of growing and shining.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Downtown Indy is the place to go for nonstop entertainment. Because you meet so many different people and there is so much to do, I would choose downtown. For supper, I’d go to Giordano’s Pizza in downtown Indianapolis, followed by beverages and music at Howl at the Moon Indianapolis. The atmosphere of Howl at the Moon is the finest! For more, we can go bar hopping in Broad Ripple and meet some intriguing folks along the way. The pizza sticks at Brothers Bar and Grill in Broad Ripple are fantastic!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to use this moment to express my gratitude to my beautiful parents and my incredibly supportive boyfriend. My mother and father ran their own painting and restoration business when I was a kid, and they put in long hours on every job. I’m so inspired by their perseverance and determination to see that I got all I needed. I adore them above all else. They showed me how to succeed, so I know I can do it. I also wanted to express my gratitude to my boyfriend for his unwavering support. He likes every single social media post I make, which means a lot to me. He also gave me the motivation I needed to take a gamble and start my own business. Thank you all so much for your kindness and support!
