We had the good fortune of connecting with Adreinne Gilbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adreinne, what principle do you value most?
Staying true to yourself is a valuable principle; I live by. It is important to know why you want to do something and as a trainer, it is important to teach clients this principle. As a trainer, it is important to teach clients this same value. The fitness industry always has a new trend diet, and sometimes clients may want to try it. But, as their trainer, I have to explain the importance of sticking to what you know, and most of the trend diets are not sustainable long term.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always been into fitness. During my second year of law school, I decided to get my training and nutritionist license. At first, it was tough balancing law school and getting my license. However, I managed to be successful in both of them. The following summer after getting my license, I started training at a gym and I obtained a judicial clerkship. Again, I had to learn to balance both of them. My brand name is APhitt, which stands for Adreinne Fitness. I decided on AP because those are my mother’s initials. When people see my brand I want them to know, they can do anything if they believe in it. So many people told me to just focus on law school and do not worry about fitness. But I find working out therapeutic and it has helped me to stay calm while in law school.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came during the summer, I would plan to go hiking at Providence Canyon located two hours away from Atlanta, Ga. Afterward, we would go to a local restaurant to eat and find a local hotel to stay at for the night. The next day, I would take my best friend to the beltline at Ponce City Market to ride motor scooters and eat at Guac y Margys. Afterward, we would go to my house to rest and eat a home-cooked meal with my mother. If my best friend came during Christmas time, I would plan a trip to the local Botanical Garden to see the beautiful lights displayed there. Then we would eat dinner at LongLeaf and go to The Yard Milkshake Bar Atlanta for dessert.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shout-out to my parents and brother for helping me in my fitness journey. They have helped me find a balance between law school and my passion for personal training.
