We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, what do you attribute your success to?
You have to be and stay consistent when being a business owner. Being a business owner is a full time job, but the main factor is, knowing manifestation, because knowing manifestation is the key to ANY success! As long as you believe and have faith in yourself and your business, it will be as successful as you believe it will be!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is GlossBaby & we are a business that makes & sales handmade skincare cosmetics that helps heal sensitive & dry skin. What sets us apart from others is that we are a mother/daughter inspired brand. Everything we use is ORGANIC & 100% natural, literally! If it isn’t organic, we don’t use it. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come with my brand with just little to no plan at all. Just making products daily and seeing the growth of success of my brand makes me proud. I look back at what I’ve accomplished in such a short time of starting my business & it brings me joy! Also, being & staying consistent will get you so far. I’m very social media savvy, & I love to post everything, so having to post content wasn’t hard for me to do. You never know who may see your post or how far it’ll go. Having and/or running a business while being a college student & a mom, is NOT easy at all. You have to learn new skills everyday, marketing, budgeting & learning your TA which is your Target Audience. Who are you selling to specifically & how will your products benefit them. That plays a BIG part in boosting & growing your brand. I overcame the challenges by doing research every single day. I watched marketing videos and even joined seminars. I learned what products were really organic & which ones were not. I’ve read books on the do’s and don’ts of being a business owner. I also learned that. there may be other people doing exactly what you do, but everybody doesn’t do it exactly HOW you do. Meaning, we all can do the same exact thing, but we’re all going to do things in a completely different way.
I want the world to know that GlossBaby isn’t just a business. We are a BRAND. Businesses just like to make money but brands do what they love! Im just a 29-yr old girl mom who decided to start a brand to invest into her child so she can have something growing up, & it was started from the inspiration of my daughter. We want to help those that suffer with & from sensitive, dry skin. There are a lot of products that even those with sensitive skin can’t use, but my products are made exactly for that. It started as just a lipgloss business but I wanted to add more. I LOVE making body butters, and scrubs, & knowing my customers actually see a difference with their skin. I’m want & manifest that it becomes a household brand name & one day everyone will know and love GlossBaby!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, for a quick bite to eat on the first day, we would start at Shake Shack in Buckhead, GA. Nice dining area enjoying a quick lunch on a rooftop. Then after lunch, we would take a trip to Lenox Mall to do some shopping. The mall where most celebrities go when in town.

Next, would be to Centennial Park located in downtown Atlanta, where they also have the SkyView Ferris Wheel that shows a great view of the city of Atl at nighttime.

Couple days later, we would go to a nice bar & lounge called Cirque Daiquiri Bar & Grill, whether it’s day or night, to enjoy some drinks & fine dining, with great music & maybe poetry night.

We may take a day off to enjoy some fun in the sun at the pool, in our AirBnB that we booked also located in the Downtown area.

The next morning, we going out for some mimosas at a day bar then headed to the Trap Music Museum looking at recreated rooms of old hip-hop history, by rapper , 2-Chains.

The 2nd to last day, we have tickets to go to a concert at the Cellairis Amphitheater at Lakewood, featuring some of our favorite singers & rappers. There we will have food and drinks to end off the night.

The last day before she leaves, we are headed to Six Flags over Georgia, which I prefer White Waters because who wouldn’t want to ride a water rolled coaster ride right?! Lol.

Later on that night, we’re going out for another night on the town at a club called the Gold Room on Piedmont Rd. It’s the HOTTEST nightclub in the city with a dress code of course, but it’s where everyone who knows everyone goes including most celebrities

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
