We had the good fortune of connecting with Gi Grier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gi, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Our team. Each of us has a unique skillset that contributes to the success of our brand. Gi works on getting guests and exposure opportunities, Taaj handles our sound and production, while Manny works on our web/content strategy. Without each of us operating at our best, we would not be where we are today. We also make sure to support each other and fill in if one of us has things going on as we all know life can hit you fast. So without a doubt, the most important factor behind our success is our cohesiveness as a team.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Black Vibrations Podcast was created in order to highlight Black excellence on any scale. With the motto “For The People, By The People,” the team focuses on covering local events, entrepreneurs, and creatives. The team works on highlighting their work and spreading their specific brands and messages. We are most proud about the community we have formed around us as they have served as our driving force. Some of our team considered themselves introverts, and have made amazing strides networking throughout the city and really solidified our outreach efforts. One of the biggest reasons we started this brand was to show other people who look like us that it is not just stars and celebrities doing what they love, but everyday people are shaping their futures in such creative ways. So why not them too?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We operate out of Charlotte, NC. As one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, we have a plethora of things we could do but here are some of our favorites:

For Friday –
We’d do a night at Pin’s Mechanical in South End for drinks and games. Maybe even hop to other bars in the historic area.

For Saturday –
We can catch a concert in NoDa at The Evening Muse or in Plaza at Snug Harbor. After that we can grab late night eats and drinks along the NoDa strip.

For Sunday –
Brunch at Le Bon Bistro and we could do some Sunday ice cream at Jeni’s in South End as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If we had to shout out a specific group its all of our listeners and guests that were generous enough to stop by our booth, or be on our show, or repost our content. They really gave the team confidence to keep grinding and getting better. From the entrepreneurs that are always down to collab, to the loyal followers who always show love, and to the friends who support our mission – that’s who we want to shout out.
