We had the good fortune of connecting with Connie Chavarria and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Connie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The artistic and creative career I chose was modeling and an influencer for the transgender community. The reason why I chose this career is because being behind the camera and being ones photographer‘s muse is one of the dopest feelings yet! Seeing the aftermath of the pictures and the great work of editing from the photographers just makes me happy. Feels like I’m in my zone, like this is what I’m supposed to do. Being transgender isn’t always easy. so I know showing how confident I am with my own creative aesthetic style and representing this community can help others. To be more confident within themselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The proudest accomplishment for me at least is when @edhardyusa reposted my picture on Instagram of me wearing the Vintage EdHardy shirt & a business called BlackTailor liking that same picture cause I was wearing their cargo pants. I couldn’t have been where I’m at today professionally without my small circle of friends who literally are like family to me. No, it has not been easy but day by day I take it and I just know this is what I’m destined to become I just get the sudden rush feeling like this is what I’m supposed to be doing. And I have fun while doing it.
Along the way though I’ve learned that great things take time. This is your craft be different from others. Networking and socially collaborating with people who have the same career goals is important because it allows you to grow and chances to reach great opportunities. I have also learned it’s okay to allow yourself to learn new things from other people whether it’s them giving you an advice or something that could help you out just by learning it.
I want the world to know that no matter what dream you have if you really want it you’ll go after it no matter what it takes. Whether it’s buying your first apartment or being on the cover of GQ magazine. Tells you a little about me then. I won’t stop til I reach my limit to becoming one of the most wanted fashion model.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I would’ve taken them to NYC. We would’ve first stopped to go get Starbucks because they love their tea and I love their refreshers! Then we would’ve gone sight viewing at one of our new parks called Little Island. There is a beautiful view of the water and where part of the “island” is above on which is where it gets its name from. We could then make cool tie dye shirts of our favorite colors at the park. Have fun while doing it. Later, we would hit Brooklyn, there’s a restaurant called Sweet Chick. In my opinion has one of the best waffle & chicken in Brooklyn. It should be getting late now, so then we would go watch a movie at a drive in movie theatre where you can literally park your car and watch. Kind of like back in the old days which I’m fonded, I love the 80’s. That’d be a full day experience with my best friend.
As well of course there’s museums I’d take them such as the Museum of Modern Art they have real cool sculptures.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I just want to give a quick shout out to my close friends who are there for me every single day. The one’s who help me out by letting me know what open casting calls are available. As well as taking me out to pop ups. Thank you to you guys cause I know you guys are the reason why I push every single day for my dreams. Always reminding me why I shouldn’t give up when I feel down. The ones who check up on me and make sure I’m okay. Remind me why I should never stop pursuing into becoming a well known fashion model, no matter what!
