We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Castleberry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always loved being creative, whether it is writing, styling, or drawing. But I fell into creating jewelry because it brings so much peace into my life. I created my first piece after trying to purchase a necklace from another creator. I did not have a good experience, so I decided to try to make one myself. Making that first necklace felt so natural to me, like a natural talent I didn’t know I had. This inspired me to progress and improve my jewelry making skills, and that’s when I knew it would be a great career for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love working with natural stones/crystals, they are so beautiful and unique, and I believe in their energetic properties. No two crystals or stones are alike, which makes every Ode To Belle piece one of a kind. That’s what I love the most about creating. My journey has had it’s share of challenges, imposter syndrome, creative blockages, and having to wear so many hats, but what keeps me going is my love for creating and the fact that I’ve dedicated my business to my ancestors. Ode To Belle is named after my grandmother Ida Belle and my great-grandmother Odene. An important lesson that I’ve learned over the last two years is that even though there is always room for improvement, I am always at my best. I want the world to know that I create out of love, and I operate my business out of love, and the quality of my jewelry will always reflect that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go to Another Broken Egg for brunch and for dinner we would go to Top Spice for pad Thai or spicy fried rice. We would hang out at The Battery Atlanta, there are so many great spots for food and entertainment there. I love finding quiet places in the city or nature reserves and having breakfast or lunch with the sounds of nature in the background. There are a few good spots along the Chattahoochee.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends. They’ve supported and encouraged me from day one.
