We had the good fortune of connecting with Haley Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Haley, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
How I measure success may vary from how others measure success because I haven’t reached many of my goals yet. I have much more to accomplish and goals I plan to reach before I see myself as a successful influencer. A decision I made recently to contribute to my success is to continue to work part-time. My boyfriend works full-time and is attending graduate school, while I work part-time to pursue my dreams. Working full-time may not allow me to achieve the same goals with the number of hours outside of the workplace. I know many influencers who have worked full-time and achieved their goals. However, I don’t see this as the path for me. My boyfriend is very supportive of my dreams and works with me to help accomplish them. I plan to continue growing and fulfill my lifetime hopes.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My blog focuses on affordable and trendy styles because many social users vary in lifestyles. My style accommodates the crowd who is looking for trends that won’t break the bank. As an entrepreneur who started her blog her senior year of college, she thrived on creating looks that others possess themselves. A blog that focuses on setting the bar at an affordable rate sets me apart from other bloggers who can spend a lot of money on a single handbag.
I am most proud of receiving my first paid collaboration at only 3.8k followers. Many bloggers did not receive the same opportunity until they reached closer to 10k, however, I am proud to have opened many of the same opportunities as other women with a greater following because I produce high-quality content.
It was not easy getting to where I am today from the challenges I faced. There have been many lows, like the courage to know my self-worth and realizing it can be hard to have consistent luck capturing content that meets my desired standards. I have learned along the way to be proud of myself for where I am at my age and continue to know my worth when it comes to negotiating with brands. Many individuals do not recognize the effort and time bloggers put into their work.
I want others to know that my brand, Haley Brown’s blog, is a place where everyone is welcome and can be their authentic self.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have too many spots in Atlanta and Metro-Atlanta I would love to share! Ponce City Market is an Atlanta landmark with vendors, delicious cuisines, and exciting rooftop activities! My boyfriend and I have many memories on the rooftop, one being when I won at miniature golf. We recently went to the Interlock and visited Drawbar at the Bellyard Hotel for brunch. Their cocktails and food were amazing, but the view was the selling point. We then went to Puttshack and had a ball playing in a unique miniature golf course. Of course, I love local places to visit, like the Avalon in Alpharetta, and explore different bites, shops, and exciting events. There are so many places in Atlanta I still want to visit, but what is listed holds a place in my heart where I’ve created memories that will last a lifetime.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As stated in the previous question, my boyfriend is the reason I can accomplish my dreams. He is one of the reasons I started pursuing Influencing because he knew I could create amazing content. He takes the time to capture my content, joins me on my in-person collaborations, shares the glory when I reach milestones, and more! I wouldn’t be where I am without him. When I reach my lifetime goals, he will be there to pop the champagne for the work we’ve put into building the life I hoped for.
Austin is the person to whom I owe my success.
