We had the good fortune of connecting with Evie Fleming and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I worked years in customer service and home health care where you were tied to guidelines and schedules. I enjoyed both jobs and working in team settings. However, starting my own business would give me the room to set this for myself. It would allow me to create a work space that I felt would be in line with my energy and the energy I wanted to create for my clients. It would give me the room to use all of my talents. There were many successful women around me that had also taken the leap so I had great role models. Of course financially it was also a good time to be able to take on a new adventure. I knew it would take some hard word, but I was ready for the challenge.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I always was drawn to helping others. When I was little my sister and I would pretend we were doctors and nurses in a hospital. We would use our bedrooms as patient rooms. I later became a nurse and loved home health care. It allowed you to let the person heal in their own environment where they felt safe. Nursing felt natural to me and I got so much joy from assisting others. I was introduced to reflexology as I began to do my own internal work and detoxing my body. I took on the challenge of a healthier lifestyle. I had to give up things that I liked but learned they were not great for my system. I learned to listen inward and look for clues that my body may give. I have had many times when I could hear or feel to choose something and paid for the result of not going with the healthy choice.

We are often our own best advisor. I am learning and work every day to let go of the fear of failure, the fear of not meeting expectations and the fear of making mistakes. It is my life and I am in charge of it. If I listen the universe will guide me.

Reflexology and Yoga are very natural modalities and were a perfect fit for me. I can make a connection with the body through the feet and then use the yoga poses to move the energy. This is what I want for my clients. I want them to learn to listen within. Trust their intuition and gut feelings. Move daily in a natural rhythm and flow. My goal is to help them relax and get the stress out of the way so they can go forward doing great things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the outdoors and if I can get near water that is even better. I love some of my area parks, hiking trails and lakes. Great ways to get the body moving. The Atlanta area offers lots of variety of cultural food choices and evening events. You can always find something to do here.

Then sometimes simple is good….we have a great front porch view.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe much of my drive and determination to my mother and sister, Sallie and April. . They are always giving words or encouragement and telling me never to give up. They may encourage me to take a self care break every now and then but only to recharge and gather more momentum for the next task. I also have a great group of women that I network with (Sharryn, Wanda , Angie and Edeline). I have grown so much from being apart of many local women’s networking groups in my area. And lastly, thanks to my husband John for giving me the needed support to go out on my own.
