We had the good fortune of connecting with Chancie Dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chancie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

My thought process behind starting my own business stemmed from my knowledge of the creative and expressive freedom that comes with being an entrepreneur. I have witnessed family members and close friends give their all day in and day out for someone else’s business without having the freedom to move freely and be creative and expressive. I wanted something different, I wanted more out of life. I wanted to break the generational curse of working themselves into the ground for numerous years just to reach retirement. I have all intentions of retiring at an early age and creating financial freedom for my family. Starting a business was the start of my intent to do so. I had zero idea how to start and where to start, I just knew that I would start. Now I have multiple businesses that are doing great and moving in the direction towards my goals.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Chancie Dunn Athletics was founded due to my strong passion for basketball and the vast number of youth athletes without opportunities, especially female athletes. Chancie Dunn Athletics was created to give youth athletes opportunities of a lifetime to grow and develop their skills. Chancie Dunn Athletics offers player development programs, skill training, after school programs, seasonal camps, clinics, youth leagues, mentorships and so much more.

The key thing that sets me a part from others in my field is the need to have high status due to training ranked players, WNBA, or NBA players. I do not care who I am training as long as I am giving back to the game that gave so much to me and making a positive impact on a player’s life is all I care about.

Chancie Dunn Athletics was created after playing numerous years of basketball at every level and then training kids domestically and internationally for a few years. My last experience of training athletes in China and being the City Director in which my job description was a little of everything such as Customer Service rep, Human Resources, Marketing Director, Program Director and the list goes on sparked the need to have my own business domestically. This experience in China prepared me for a lot of things that are going on in my business today, I was able to get a lot of experience with running a company for someone else. It made a lot of “issues” easier to deal with having seen them come about before in previous experiences. I am grateful for all of the experiences I was able to have prior to starting my businesses.

Chancie Dunn is an Elite Player Development Coach that specializes in the advancement and development of athlete’s basketball skills. Chancie has trained a vast number of players from all levels such as elementary school, middle school, high school, collegiate, and professionals. Chancie’s mission is to give athletes opportunities of a lifetime to grow and develop their skills by sharing her knowledge and passion of the game while making a positive impact on their lives. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I am a lover of creating memories and trying new foods so eating out and trying new places would definitely be on the list of things we would be doing. I would take my best friend to the Chattahoochee Food Works due to the variety of food options that you have. I love to shop so we would definitely hit some shopping areas. I am also a fan of museums and attractions so I would also take them to places like the High Museum of Art and the Georgia Aquarium. I am not a huge fan of clubs/lounges but if my best friend was interested, I would take them to some chill bars around the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

First and foremost, I want to shoutout the one and only man above. Without Him, there is no Chancie or gifts that He has blessed me with to be the successful person that I am. Secondly, I have to give a lot of credit to my mother because she supports me through and through. She has always motivated and pushed me to do whatever it is that my heart desires. I am grateful for her wisdom and support throughout my life. When things get tough and I think about “giving up” I think of her and remember what she has and always tells me, “This too shall pass” . Thirdly, I have to shoutout T-Baby, the support, wisdom, love, and motivation from him has helped make me the go getter that I am. I am forever grateful for him during my journey and success. Lastly, I have to show love to my fav person, they will know who they are when they read this but they have pushed me outside of comfort zone, supported, advised, encouraged, and showed love throughout my entire journey of success as an entrepreneur. For that, I am grateful and I got them for life. These three individuals have a major impact on my success and it wouldn’t be right not to recognize them. I love you all with everything in me!
