We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I’m a very detailed person so the idea of starting a business seemed like a year long process for me because I want to work on it so much that when I finally launch there are no faults, and I learned that it doesn’t work like that. I graduated college into a pandemic, barely a part time job, out of a car because of an accident, and just depressed so I couldn’t promise to invest into something like that but then I reconnected with a friend of mine. He owns a recording studio in Houston, Texas and he brought me on as an intern Marketing Assistant which basically means I handled is Facebook Ads, helped out around with his other interns, and event planning/promotion. With that I learned a lot that I did not know and a lot that I was good at and put it into action with him for those about 8 months. Then I connected with a publicist who said, just do the paperwork, keep networking on clubhouse, and keep working so that you can be your own boss because I was a good assistant so why not? With that I learned through other entrepreneurs social media, master classes, etc. to get some paperwork together and just be an actual business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A virtual/personal assistant is one thing but to focus on Music Business I believe that you have to have a different mindset because it’s not like any other industry, so when I say Music Business virtual/personal assistant I want entrepreneurs and creatives to know I’m specialized for you! I got here to through 100% networking, people can see your work and hear you talk but without that personal connection it’s basically just another post or another person on social media. Definitely not easy because I’ve turned from a shy loving person to a outgoing passionate individual.

The biggest challenge was honestly this pandemic how do I network without going out? Clubhouse, and how do I get people to trust me? Show them what I can do by doing it for someone else without expecting anything in return. I learned that people can bring your name up for an opportunity but the more that can vouch for your work the more opportunities will come your way.

I want people to know that you have to be creative in how you get to your goal. I want to be an artists personal manager one day, so I’ll be an assistant to anyone on the team in order for me to learn a little about everyone the artist will work with which I know will make me a better manager in the future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First off we are getting brunch! I’d love to find a rooftop brunch spot in LA to give them the best luxury idea.

Second, the beach because who doesn’t love Southern California beaches?! Look at the peer (Santa Monica specifically), the beautiful homes, and the happiness around the city.

Next I’d have them experience the night life! Take them to downtown Fullerton for bar hoping, dancing, and just a good time.

The following day we would NEED to hit my favorite city views through a hike! It would be a great way to start the day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Lafayette Taylor for bringing me on as a Marketing Assistant and helping realize that’s what I’m good at! Brittany Burton for connecting with me and building my knowledge and experience as a virtual assistant in this business and helping me realize, I’m worth it!
Music Networking Room on Clubhouse of course! Just helping me connect with so many people and understand that you need to do research on everyone because you never really know until you know how valuable the people giving advice and opportunities are until you know who they are.
