We had the good fortune of connecting with Sasha Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sasha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, I decided that I wanted to look into having a second stream of income. As well as I really missed tapping into my creative side. It’s something I neglected ever since I had my son and life got super busy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well, I’m a Pharmaceutical Rep and Realtor by profession and I started rediscovering my artistic and creative side leisurely. Creating always brought me peace and a sense of joy for as long as I’ve known myself. See, my mom used to do wedding cakes in my younger years and whenever she had the takeaway cake boxes to prepare I was always given that task, to fold and make it all pretty with ribbons etc. So reconnecting with that part of myself years later after tucking it to the side has been very refreshing for me. I’ve learnt that who you truly are never really goes away and you will always find your way back to you. I truly enjoy every cup that I’ve designed, every cake topper, every keyring I’ve made etc they’ve all been made with love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Jamaica? Man there are sooooo many choices! In no particular order… district 5 at RHotel in Kingston is a MUSTTT visit (big up Chef Lumley!!!! The Sunday brunch vibe there is an experience to have. Friday night Chilling of music food and drinks, AC Hotel lounge is a nice spot to indulge. For a more local vibe in kingston for drinks and food there’s also Jangas and “Off the Grid” my fav tucked away spot for drinks n lyming. We can head out of town now to Cove in St. Ann for a beach flex….Montego Bay also for the beach and just an overall good time at like pier 1. Portland has my heart!!! So there is a must go as well. Trust me 1 week is not enough to go all the places lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out HeartUNot founders Kathrina Graham and Timothy Hill; whom I’ve teamed up with on a few occasions merging our brand….And their support has been paramount! Definitely also like to shout out those who have supported and trusted me with their projects and to bring their ideas to life.
