We had the good fortune of connecting with Keisha Bowman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keisha, how do you think about risk?
I feel that being an entrepreneur within itself, is a risk. We leave our 9-5 jobs, use all of our savings with no guarantee of a return to pursue a career that has the potential to fail. However, taking risks is the only way to seek opportunity and to gain knowledge. Every single entrepreneur took a risk at some point in their career whether big or small and in my opinion, successful entrepreneurs will continue to take risks because that’s the only way for growth and success.
Risks played a role in my life/career from the moment I started my business. I sacrificed money, time with family, sleep, and simply put all of my trust in the unknown. As a business owner I’m continuously taking risks, whether it’s investing, budgeting, or simply my reputation.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a brow artist who started in my kitchen and worked my way up to my own 2600 sq ft location in a year. Initially, as you can see from my business name Brows and Beauty ROOM, I could not see past working in a suite. I did not expect my career to be this successful in such a short period of time but I’m so grateful and so proud of where I am. What sets me apart from others is that I’m constantly working on how to become better than I was yesterday. I’m constantly brainstorming and planning on how to create a more successful business. I’m never comfortable. I listen to my clients feedback, I use nothing short of quality products, and I pay attention to every single detail of my business. I’m most proud of my work ethic. I’m proud that even through the setbacks, I learned from it and kept going. Starting a business is never easy. The challenges are the major responsibility that comes with it. You are solely responsible for every set back and you will have to take it with stride. I learned early on to research everything. Even if you outsource, you always should know the in’s and out’s of everything regarding your business. Because when something fails or doesn’t go as planned, you are prepared and know how to navigate the situation at hand. I want the world to know that my brand started with people who didn’t even know me but believed in me. All I had was a vision and plan. If I can do it, so can anyone else. Always believe in yourself even if you can’t see past what’s in front of you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would first get breakfast at Atlanta Breakfast Club. Hang out at Ponce City Market. Eat lunch at The Garden Room Atlanta, and get drinks at Polaris. I love being around good music and positive, fun vibes.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without my clients, there would be no Brows and Beauty Room. I cherish all of the encouraging conversations and supportive reviews. That gave me the motivation to keep going. I would like to thank my realtor Terri Copeland for her help in advancing my career to the next level. I would like to thank Tasha Robey, CEO of YerberLuxe Beauty for all of her professional advice in the esthetician field. Lastly, I would like to thank my family and friends for the continued support.
