Meet Valdoshia Hunt | Owner, Thumbs Up Scrubs, LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Valdoshia Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valdoshia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am at a point in my life where I want to gain control of my own destiny and reach my full potential. Owning my own business has allowed me to use my skills and knowledge in an area I find interesting. I’ve been a manager for many years but when you manage you operate under the leadership of an organization. As a business owner I am able to control this. You can either wake up every day and support someone else’s vision or support your own vision. I am at a place in life where I take joy in supporting my own vision. The medical apparel business is growing and expanding. The days of the blue boxy scrubs are over. Scrubs equal fashion. The New York Times recently highlighted this in an article. There are now endless, shapes, sizes and colors to accommodate anyone’s need and preference. Scrubs are recession proof and many professions need them. I enjoy meeting with my customers and ensuring they find the proper style, fit and color scrubs to meet their needs.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Please tell us more about your business.

We are a one stop shop with monogramming services too.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta has so many great places to see and experience. I suggest checking out the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the APEX Museum, the High Museum of Art and the Georgia Aquarium. Atlanta has too many great restaurants to name. Trust me you will be able to find a spot to accommodate the pickiest palate.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my amazing customers! I have connected with so many great people since starting Thumbs Up Scrubs.
I’d like to thank my family, friends, sorority sisters, business sisters, and even strangers that have shown me so much love and support since starting the business. It is incredible the amount of support I have received by being true to myself, loving what I do, always staying thankful and always willing to learn and grow.
I am so appreciative to Ms. Lydia Nelson, CEO of CScrubs with Love Wholesale Division for being a mentor and creating this opportunity to start an online and mobile medical apparel retail business. She is always encouraging, and willing to drop gems on how to be successful in the medical apparel retail business. Ms. Lydia comes with a wealth of experience and her team are an awesome support system.
