We had the good fortune of connecting with Yahnee’ Gober and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yahnee’, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I always had a issue with bad acne growing up, dark circles around my eyes, dark black spots on my skin, and my skin tone just being uneven all around my face! So about 7 years ago I met this beautiful African queen at a restaurant where I was serving and she also was a server as well. I just remember her being so beautiful, her skin color was perfect and beautiful, and her makeup was so pretty. I never been into that makeup world maybe more so cause I didn’t know how to do it. So I asked her what did she use for her skin because I wanted my skin to be clear and healthy looking like hers! After work that day, she took me to Mac and they showed me what to buy for my skin to get it clear, and what type of foundation to use, etc. My African queen after a while took her makeup off for me to see her real skin and what it was actually doing and looking like underneath her makeup, and she needed my assistance as well! So here we’re are 7 years later I decided 5 years ago I wanted to help other women with the same issue I was having with my skin, that I was not the only one having issues, and I turned my own story into my new business which is Glam Me Outt. I didn’t get my actual LLC until 2020 when the pandemic happened but I’ve been doing makeup now for 5 years and I love every moment!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have 2 businesses with several businesses inside 1! My first business Glam Me Outt which I’ve being doing for 5 years now but officially gotten my LLC back in May 2020! What sets me apart from others that’s in this industry is “I Am You” meaning that just because I do your makeup, lashes, brows, etc. “I Am You” as well and I’m passionate, thoughtful, and care a lot about all of my clients that come and sit down in my chair! I am a no judgment zone shop to where you can tell me anything you want and it will stay right there. A lot of my clients tell me when they lay down in my chair, it’s like a counseling session and I motive, uplift, and keep their faith going! So I love for all of my clients to feel special, motivated, and cared for once they leave my shop feeling beautiful as well! God, my faith, my family, my regular clients, and new clients are the reason why my business is still booming and where it is today a year later! God never said it was going to be easy and we have to work hard and be consistent with what we’re passionate in! You’re going to have good days/weeks in your business and you’re going to have bad days/weeks in your business but most of all continue to push and do right by people, and you will do great! It wasn’t easy at first for my business more so because I was scared and I still felt like I needed a lot more practice! Also with me being a full time mom, a full time wife, a full time nursing student, working a full time job, working a PRN job, being a friend, counselor, and running several businesses whew! I overcame these challenges because I’m hungry and know that when you’re serious and passionate about something, God gone see that you get through it all! With my schedule being so crazy, I learned that just being organized and having patience, you can do anything you want to do! I want to break the generational curse in my family and leave a legacy for my children and their children so that they don’t have to work as hard as I did to get where they’re trying to go. My lessons I learned from being a business owner is to never take anything personal, listen to the feedback from your clients, and don’t give up! What I want people to know about my brand and story is to never limit yourself on the things you believe that you can do! Surround yourself around like minded people like you and that has your best interest at heart. Life is what you make it and you are the company that you keep! Your business is your brand, your trademark, and your legacy, so make a great impression the first time because that’s all it takes! Bossis Extravaganza is my second business I have since May, 2021! I’m a party planner, bartender, host, decor, make labels, business cards, and more!! Back in November, 2020 I hosted my first pop up shop here in Atlanta! I never knew what pop up shops were until the pandemic and decided to be a vendor at a few of them before I started to do my own! What sets me apart from other pop up shops is I wanted to be different and fair to other vendors so I decided once I started to do mine, there will be only 1 vendor of each, the price you would pay would be very reasonable because I only wanted enough money to pay for the venues that I book and not make a profit from it! I involved all of my vendors in anything that I did such as you would be featured on everything I was featured on such as the radio station interviews I did, podcast, and now here with Shout out of Atlanta! I was one of the very first host to go on live radio interviews and different podcast with my vendors to share our small businesses, build our brands, network, and get our businesses name out there more! “I Am You” is my slogan and I believe in sharing whatever platform God blesses me with everyone and passing that on to others!! I formed a consistent group of 20 women and they are like my family now! That’s why I decided to name this group BOSSIS (SIS) and you pronounce it BOSSES because it’s 20 different women and more and we all are bosses!! I’m going on my 9th event now and it hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had people stealing my flyers trying to scam others, I’ve had vendors to come into my group trying to recruit my vendors, or they had people come to my events to recruit my vendors! But what got me through is me being who I am and my vendors trusting me on who I am because of their first impression of me towards them. My energy and vibe speaks for itself and when you first meet me, you will never forget me! I’m very personal with all of my clients and vendors and connect with every single person on their level! I want people to know that there is still some great people out there that you can still trust, talk to, an express how you feel whether it’s good or bad! Stay true to yourself and the sky is not even the limit, you are!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anybody that knows me know that I love seafood! But I also know that seafood is a high allergy food, so I am very mindful that if we’re going to eat seafood, that they have lots of other options to choose from as well! So a nice restaurant downtown Atlantic Station is where we will start. The Sugar Factory is where we would go for drinks! They have some of the best drinks and they’re so unique and creative how they make them! I’m that friend that like to do different things that probably no one would think of doing such as jumping out of a airplane! We would definitely do that, the gun range, shopping, and spa day to just wine down and relax, and get our thoughts together!!! Thinking outside the box more and doing things you wouldn’t never think you would do! I’m that type of friend! Anywhere in Atlanta you will have a great time, eat good, drink good, and just live your best life!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God, my immediate family such as my parents, husband, and children deserve so much credit in my story because they get me through every obstacle I face wether it being good or bad, they’re all always there to pick up the pieces or have the right answers for me! There’s been times I’ve been discouraged about my business, scared to start, not knowing where to start, and my family helped me get through it!!! If it wasn’t for God and any of them, Glam Me Outt wouldn’t be where it is today!! I’ve been going strong for a little over a year now and I couldn’t be more excited, grateful, and thankful for everything!!!
