We had the good fortune of connecting with Sanchez Tanniehill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sanchez, what do you attribute your success to?
What is the most important factor behind your success and the success of your brand?

Well, the God Did It ministry is not about success. It’s not about a brand. It is about a MOVEMENT. A movement that you can be a part of!!! A movement that tells YOUR STORY-the story of how God Did It in your life. Here is my story:

I was born a healthy child. But, at the age of 6 weeks old, I had a stroke and spinal meningitis. The doctors told my parents there was no hope for my future. I would never walk or talk. But, look at me now!!!! For many years now I have been blessed to travel around, both here and abroad, and share the testimony of what God has done for me through my music.

The inspiration and success of my ministry and music comes from his family’s walk with God through adversity. My single “God Did It” shares my story and the God Did It movement began. It took on a life of its own as people began to see that they too could persevere through their struggles. Eventually, I wrote my first book, God Did It. My desire is to help others overcome any adversity that may try to stop them from living the victorious life God desires. I want people to know that no matter what others say, go for your dreams, and try to reach your goals. People are going to talk regardless of what you decide to do, so you might as well try to aim high and go for it. The book is designed to reach a wider audience with the message that, with God, dreams are possible regardless of the obstacles they might face. I have overcome a lot of obstacles in my life, and I want to use my story to help others going through similar things. This movement is meant to inspire, uplift and encourage people to pursue their dreams while keeping God the center of their lives.

It is so powerful and empowering to know that Jesus’s life, death and resurrection from the dead served to demonstrate that God can take the most painful, unreasonable and brutal of circumstances and bring redemption and purpose out of it……essentially to redeem your story for His glory. Like me, the pain of your childhood has become the strength of your adulthood giving you a platform to share the good news with the world.

You see, the success of the God Did it movement, is not MY success, it’s YOURS!! And, all the glory goes to God!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It all started with a talent show when I was in middle school. My mother always believed I could fly and so that is what I sang, “I Believe I Can Fly.” The journey has been far from easy but that is what my story is all about – overcoming adversity. God surrounded me with an amazing group of family and friends that encouraged me to go for my dreams and reach my goals. I want the world to know that like me, the pain of your childhood can become the strength of your adulthood.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love going to the bowling alley and attending the Birmingham Barons baseball games. And, of course you cannot come to Birmingham without going to the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum. Some of my favorite places to eat in the area are Longhorn Steakhouse, Slice Pizza and Eugene’s Hot Chicken. And for just plain ole hanging out, I love to go to the movies.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom, Victoria Tanniehill and my family, the God Did It street team, my church family at Cultivate Church, Little Mamma & Guardian, and the city of Alabaster.
