We had the good fortune of connecting with Sasha Ledawn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sasha, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Perseverance, radical honesty, and courage. I don’t always get things right. I don’t always make the right decisions. I tend to fail A LOT and fail often, but that never stops me. I persevere anyhow. If I have a vision for it or an opportunity, you can be sure that I am going to take the chance. I never care about the odds against me. I’m courageous in that way. I’m also quite honest with myself and with others. I don’t sugarcoat things or dodge the elephant in the room. If everyone is blissfully ignorant, you can be sure that I will be the one who will interrupt that with blatant honesty and a faith-filled perspective.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the Encouragist where encouragement meets strategy. As an MBA strategist and avid writer, I pair these gifts into services catered to empowering Christian women to get up, grow up, and show up with bible-inspired services and products such as ebook, e-courses, jouranls, planners, workshops, public speaking, group and private coaching, and audio products.I don’t mind telling you to get it together. I don’t mind reminding you of who and whose you are. I don’t mind meeting you where you are; whether that be a high place or a low one. I’ve been there and my passion is to see women thriving and living abundantly in all areas. I got to this place honestly because God wanted me to. I’ve experienced a lot of closed doors and they were all just God’s way of redirecting to get me to this place of purpose.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I come the never duplicated, black mecca of the south, Atlanta, Georgia and the question is what can’t you do here? Many people I know relocated to Atlanta simply because there is so much to do. My first stop would be to Little Five Points and Atlantic Station just to ease them in. Next, we would visit all the Atlanta Gems like World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, High Museum of Art, and Martin Luther King National Historical Park. Then we would explore nature by visiting Zoo Atlanta, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Sweetwater Creek State Park, and of course my favorite park as a kid, Piedmont Park. I would have to go to my favorite low-key food spots like American Deli, Outback Steakhouse, and Five Guys. Then we can check out the higher-priced restaurants like Ray’s in the City, Houston’s, Legal Seafood, Sweet Georgia Brown, among others.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This list is so big. Ultimately, I attribute my success to Jesus. I would not be if not for Him. Throughout my life, He has added so many dynamics of support to me that has afforded me the success that I experience on a day to day basis. The first notable support is my parents. My mother teaches me to be confident and fearless and my father taught me resilience and wisdom. My aunt Angie shows me how to be compassionate for others. My husband is my constant covering and my biggest supporter. The push, encouragement, and support from my spiritual parents Apostle Walter D’Andre Green and Pastor Shawnetta Green of Church Without Walls in Carrollton, Georgia have served as a source of stability and my literal launching pad to be who I am called to be. The love of my tribe has been and continuously is a steady source of encouragement for me from my long time friends, really sisters, Mahaya, Ashley, Alex, and Bridgette who I never stopped showing up for me to other family I picked up along the way like Brittany Stowbridge, Sheila Farley, Shawntoria Baker, Jordan Alexa of SheSpeakX, Paige Partlow, Aubrei Savage of Savage Makeup Artistry, Stephanie Banks, Uraina White, pretty much the whole Green Family, Cajean Robinson, Jonathan Singleton aka the spoken word linguist JontheHuman , Fred Robinson of Ministry in Motion and Radical Faith Arts Academy, and Dielle Charon the Side Biz Coach. I have a whole Tribe and this isn’t even all of them.
