We had the good fortune of connecting with Ric Holmes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ric, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I was always interested in owning a business from a young but did not exactly what I wanted to do until 3-4 years ago. I wanted to start a business to provide a service that people did not want to do themselves and no problem paying for. Shoes are a necessity and I believe nobody wants to wear dirty shoes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Uncapped kicks is your one stop shop for sneaker restorations. I do everything from basic cleanings to repaint and reglues. I also do custom shoes. My focus is creating clean colorways that pop and still look like they came straight out of footlocker. I feel like my journey is still in the early stage and it hasn’t been easy but hard work and dedication can get you through anything. Uncapped means to do anything to the best of your ability and that’s all I want to do. Every shoe I come across gets my best work and maximum effort to get the job done.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people who have supported from and pushed fame from the beginning but three have to be highlighted. My mom, my son, and my good friend/mentor P-Rok. My mom has supported all my decisions and pushed me to take a chance. My son provides all the motivation I need to get up and be great. My mentor P-Rok gave me the confidence and extra push you need from somebody outside of family and close friends. He was my first client and knew I had something good going.
