We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonny Weathersby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sonny, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Health is defined as the overall mental and physical state of a person, and wellness refers to the state of being in optimal physical and mental health. As a health and wellness coach, my job is to live a healthy lifestyle and to inform and educate others on how to do the same. I perform this service by teaching others the importance of being physically and mentally fit and promoting a healthy diet. Through my juicing company, Wellness on Wheels International, I provide cold-pressed juices and smoothies for my customers. Cold-pressed juices allow you to get 100% of the vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and nutrients you need from fresh fruits and vegetables. My juices and smoothies energize, increase immunity, and nourish the body.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Wellness on Wheels International was designed with the people in mind. There are other juice companies, and there are other smoothie companies, however, we pride ourselves in customizing juices based on the needs and lifestyles of our customers.
I’m excited about the direction health and wellness is headed in. While this pandemic has been a thorn in our side, it has also been somewhat of a blessing in disguise. It is making people more aware of their health choices and practices, and I’m excited that I’m available to help and to facilitate the needs of the people. I’m excited to see more people making a more conscious effort to know about the nutrients and supplements that promote a healthier lifestyle.
I fell into this career by default. All my life, I wanted to be an athlete, but that didn’t work. Then, I went to the military and got in an accident, which caused me to be physically separated from the military. So, that didn’t work out. This led me to a depression, and I realized that most of my depression came from detriments of my own doing. I had to come to a place where I had to evaluate my life. I had to figure out how I changed from the person who was on top of the world to a person who “fell off.” I had to figure out what I was doing to myself, and make a decision to make a change. When I figured out what had to change (i.e. drinking and eating processed foods) and how to change it, I knew I had to help others to do the same. I felt like I needed to change the world, give the world the feeling I had, help someone else pick themselves up off the ground, to help and inspire people.
Starting a business is like giving birth. There is a time period where you carry the business in your mind. You develop it. You think about it day and night. Then, there is a birth, which is filled with pain. But, when the pain subsides, and the business has come to life, you have something that you can nurture and share with the world. And it makes every minute worth it – a blessing to give life to an imagination.
There are many lessons I’ve learned. If you’re not learning, you’re not growing. If you’re not growing, you’re dying. And in everything, I have to keep God first, even in business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For drinks, I would suggest Wellness on Wheels International (of course) and Juuice ATL – owned by Polo Lynn. For lunch & dinner, we’d have to check out Salad Express, Whole Foods, Fresh to Order, Kale Me Crazy, and True Food. For some fun, we would go to Top Golf, iFLY Atlanta, the Nature Walk at Roswell Mill, the High Museum, the MLK Memorial, the Coca Cola Center, and the Atlanta History Center. To work out, we would head over to PTCrossTraining in Buckhead, owned by Vee Johnson. We have several options when it comes to sports in Atlanta – Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Thrashers, Atlanta United FC College Sports, and many more (too many to name).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout Dr. Sebi. I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Sebi years ago. I remember that he had an herbal shop in Los Angeles off Washington and La Cienega, and he was a friend of my grandmother’s. He would come to my grandmother’s house sometimes, and he would always talk about health and wellness. I thought he was radical in his approach, but I now have a better understanding of his teachings and beliefs. I’m thankful that I listened just a little bit when I was younger because I now implement several of his teachings. He inspired me to research for myself and better myself, and I hope to help others do the same.
