We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Waymon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I think I was burned out from working 9-5. At one point of time I did about 120 hours in 2 weeks.. I was tried of my manager taking advantage of my skills. I said I couldn’t take it anymore and quit.. I knew from that point on I never want work for anyone else ever again

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I currently have 2 businesses, my first business is Gate City Management. Gate City Management we specialize in Artist, Business & Production Management. Gate City has been in business for 9 years now and definitely was not easy. I remember I had a meeting with a potential client with my gas tank on empty and only $5 in my pocket. I was should I go to this meeting for a potential sale. But if they didn’t pay then I would have no money anytime soon. Working in a sales driven business you never know how much money you can make especially as an entrepreneur. When COVID started Gate City took a big hit where I was thinking about closing the business and just get a regular 9-5. But in the mist of of COVID I was able to launch a 2 business CLW Photograpghy and Videography September 2020. And as of May 2021 I have been booked every week since I started the business. Doing photos for Graduation, family portraits, engagement and so much more. I was able to grow CLW and now Gate City is slowing growing also. I honestly think due to COVID it lit a fire under my butt to where I was like”I gotta go and get it”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday I would walking around downtown and Piedmont Park for lunch grab some sushi. That night maybe Rays on the River or STK for a nice steak. Tuesday visit Ponce City Market light shopping, grad something to eat and walk the BeltLine and some ice cream. Wednesday got to Lenox do some shopping rest later that day then go to a rooftop restaurant for some nice music and drinks. Thursday go for a ride around the city visit each side the South, East, West and North to soak in the local culture. Friday visit one of the Lounges around the city like Suite Lounge.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s not just one person in my story. They say it takes a village to raise a child. So I have had different friends, client’s, and family to help with this journey
