We had the good fortune of connecting with Kierstin Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kierstin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process in starting my business was not intentional. I graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS with a Bachelors in Graphic Communications and a minor in Packaging. My plan was to move to Texas and work as a graphic designer in a marketing agency. Covid hit right after I graduated and changed everything! I moved back home due to hiring processes being on hold and after much prayer, the decision was made to start my own business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a designer, I specialize in creating logos, websites, flyers, etc. I’m excited to have the opportunity to help new entrepreneurs and existing business owners brand their business. I am honored that they entrust me to be a part of their process. It is truly a blessing. But, to be a Graphic Designer, you have to constantly be creative and help the client to think outside of the norm. I am grateful to be an African American young woman with a Graphic Design business and to have a team of other talented individuals by my side.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Macon, GA is located in Central Georgia. There are a variety of places to explore in and around the city, especially downtown. Macon is also known for its vibrant nightlife and superb eating destinations.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to start off by thanking my mom for encouraging me to take a leap of faith to go to Kansas. She drove countless hours and made sure I had the support I needed in every area. My adopted family in Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dean. I am grateful for their love, support and for introducing me to the world of Graphic Design and Packaging. My phenomenal mentor back home in Macon, Ga, Lamar Harvey of Lundizign. He answers every time I call and continues to be a source of knowledge for me. My professors in my Graphics Department, Chris Huitt, Christel Benson, and Tracie Hughes, who invested personal time in perfecting my projects. And, Darrell Moye of Moye Photography who makes sure everything flows well behind the scenes.
