We had the good fortune of connecting with Keosha Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keosha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I figured if I had to work anyway why not work for myself! In the process inspire others to see a different way of survival, one that they don’t teach you in traditional education.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Well I actually have two companies at the moment and one more on the way! But my babies. One is a fashion apparel brand and the other is residential/commercial painting. Two totally different industries. That’s the beauty of life. One is my job job and the other is like a passion turned job.

What sets me apart within the painting spectrum is I am a woman, I pay attention to detail, I make sure the job is done to perfection. I want to show women you can be in a male dominated industry and Win! My brand colors are Hot Pink and black, I want customers to know, this is run by a woman. I am branding painting in a way most painters wouldn’t.

With the clothing brand, I want it to be affordable clothing for all. Like Nike but in a black owned way. We have trendy but comfortable clothing, I pride myself on an experience, as well as customer service, no shortcuts, everything is branded and represents us in a way we can be proud.

I got to where I am business-wise, by just starting a business, if you stay the course the business wisdom comes with it. If you do not adopt a business mindset you have no business, you have a hobby. I learned that early on in my career and eventually went back to school to receive a degree in Business, graduated 2016′. Which gave me basic fundamentals, but not life-business skills. I believe you need both to succeed or you will get eaten alive in the entrepreneur world.

I want the world to know, there are no limits. You can be a teen mom, come from a small/poverty town, be a woman and WIN, in whatever field you choose. I am a living breathing witness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First God for giving me the vision, the faith to keep going and the wisdom to succeed. My dad x a hustler , stand up guy. He worked in construction as well as his own maintenance business “Parker Maintenance” where he does repair work on homes in our community back in Michigan. He also plowed snow in the winter months, for residents and churches, so he was always working and hustling. I knew by having even a remotely decent job, I would still need a side business to maintain a family and the lifestyle to which I was accustomed to. Of course, my mother for always making me feeling like I was the smartest and most successful woman, for continuously praying over me day in an day out, when I was going thru my troubled times. To All of my friends who supports anything/everything I do!
