We had the good fortune of connecting with Kloee Sky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kloee, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting a business: Kloee Sky is a 10 year old Kidprenuer. In 2018, at the age of 7, one morning, she woke up and told her mother that she wanted to start a youth, scented fragrance earring brand. Her mother was very surprised about the idea, wondering if Kloee’s idea could really manifest. Kloee told her mother she noticed an elderly woman one day in the store (while shopping with her mother) putting perfume behind her ears. Paying attention to that particular gesture, led Kloee to think of this bright idea of creating a scented fragrance, hypoallergenic jewelry brand. Kloee’s mother was very surprised that she could keenly think of creating something so unique at a very young age.
Legally protecting Kloee Sky’s idea was the main focus of starting her brand, Kupkake Blue. That action was taken; thereafter, Kloee began handmaking her very 1st collection, Cotton Candy Puffs. The Cotton Candy Puff collection were very small, dangling, uniquely hooked earrings, which came in these fragrances: grape, lemon (pink lemonade), lime, strawberry, pineapple, and tropical. Kloee Sky’s mother, Keylun J. Cruz, started to pitch her brand to local retail stores within West Georgia thereafter. Kloee’s siblings, Karsi Cruz Ortega and Karlian Cruz Ortega became brand ambassadors for the brand (The Ortega Kids). The Bookworm in Powder Spring was the very first retailer to select her brand to be displayed at their great business. Kupkake Blue partnered thereafter. The brand was sold at The Powder Springs Farmers Market to the local residents at The Book Worm. With this action taken, the customer base began to grow rapidly within Powder Springs. Kupkake Blue then partnered with USA Party Store of Marrietta, GA, participating in Small Business marketing events for business owners. This was also a great way of networking within the community. Later, Kupkake Blue hit the storefront of one of the largest beauty supply stores in West Georgia named Hiram Beauty Supply store. This was the very first store that put Kloee Sky’s brand on the shelves. Customers could then tangibly come in store to select and buy her handmade, youth jewelry made for girls. Now, Kloee Sky’s brand, Kupkake Blue is now sold also on multiple major marketplaces across the world. The brand is popular amongst youth girls because each earring/necklace piece comes in a uniquely scented fragrance.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Eventhough Kloee Sky is still a kid, she loves to go to Orlando to visit her friend there. Disney World is her favorite places to go outside of West Georgia. Being from GA, Kloee’s favorite place to go here is Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, GA. OMG she loves this place. Tellus Science Museum is super cool because you get to watch an amazing short film about space. Kloee would take her friend to this place because it is so much to see…space jewelry shown on display, volcanic rocks, and the display of vintage cars. Then, Kloee would swing by Petite Farms located in Cartersville, GA to feed the super cool petting animals such as the giraffe, horses, goats, etc. This is one of Kloee’s favorite places as well because she love animals. Being a kid Vegetarian, Kloee has a big heart for animal life and care. To end the day coming from the museum and the farm, Kloee’s would then take her friend on a kid Vegetarian tour to Dixie Delight Candles-Country Produce Store located at 968 Hiram Douglasville Hwy. in Hiram, GA. This place have some amazing vegan food options, all homegrown by West GA local farmers. Cool right? Kloee loves eating the organic corn sold from there. That’s her favorite. If your friend would be inclined to city-sight longer, she would take her to see her perform in the stage production, The Ortega Family Musical which usually debuts around West GA at blackbox theater houses. Kloee Sky plays a sassy, fierce kid named Sasha in the stage production. The Ortega Family Musical was also at the historic Strand Theater in the Marietta Square before. This play is a quirky, comedic play written by Kloee Sky’s mother, Keylun J. Cruz. Then Kloee would take her friend to get a super cool book from The Bookworm book store in Powder Springs GA.
A cool tour of Georgia Fireproofing company would be fun too, located in Marietta, GA. Kloee loves fire trucks and this business specializes in Fireproofing other businesses. A tour would be great to see how cool science of construction is developed behind the scenes. Eventhough she’s a little girl, she always been fascinated when seeing fire trucks and collecting them as a toy. Lol.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
