Meet Taylar Henry: J.Purée Owner and Natural Skin Care Enthusiast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylar Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylar, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued my purpose in creating J.Purée, a natural skincare line for kids, because my now 7-month-old son, Jermaine Jr. who is also known as “Nuggie”, inspired me to do so. Since birth, he has experienced sensitive skin in which no over-the-counter products accommodated his skin type. This is when I researched and formulated natural products that myself and other parents can trust in which have produced results on his skin and I wanted to share his products with the world for other children who may experience the same condition. Although my son’s brand is children-based, I also formulated natural products for adults as well in which I use myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets J.Purée apart from other skincare lines is its authenticity. I’m most proud of the results that our skincare products have produced because each product is created with love and ingredients that parents can trust. It was not easy getting to where I am because it took some time for me to tap into my purpose and to stay motivated. But, after I gave birth to my son the purpose in J.Purée just came naturally in which then made the process easier, and knowing that my son is looking up to me.

The lessons that I learned along the way are to stay inspired, motivated, patience, and celebrating all accomplishments, big and small.

I would like the world to know that my son’s brand, J.Purée, is the definition of authenticity in providing quality skin care for our youth and adults. J.Purée will expand in the future to fulfill more purposeful needs within society.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my best friend to a couple of brunch spots such as Fin and Feathers, Garden Parc, or Roc South. For mid-day activity, I would like for us to do some shopping and partake in self-care activities such as massages, manicures, and pedicures, or facials. And during the night, I would like for us to hit a high-end lounge that has good music, food, drinks, and vibes. Even some activity-based things such as Ponce City Market rooftop.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my son, Jermaine Jr. “Nuggie”, for providing me with inspiration and purpose. I have dipped my hands in many things that I thought I had a purpose in, but it was simply just an interest. With J.Purée, I know I have walked into my purpose.
