The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was leaving my comfort zone in Philadelphia and moving to Georgia when I found out I was pregnant with my son. Growing up, I faced a lot of challenges in my community because there was a significant amount of violence and uncomfortable circumstances that made it difficult to envision a safe and stable future for him. Deciding to leave wasn’t easy. Philadelphia was home. It’s where my family, friends, and entire support system were. But I knew that if I wanted to give my son the best possible chance at a better life, I had to make the sacrifice and step into the unknown.
