We had the good fortune of connecting with Calandra Davis- Bcmhc, Cps-p and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Calandra, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was facing realization that it was time to place my mother on hospice. My Mother was my everything. We had an unbreakable bond. My mother was a very Strong and , influential woman. She Always Practiced what she preached. I am who I am because of her.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m A Personal Nursing Assistant. I love to assist people preferably the elderly. I love to see where I’m able to make a difference in someone else’s life. I’m also A Board Certified Mental Heath Coach as well as a Certified Peer Specialist /Parent with the State Of Georgia.
One of my siblings were faced with some Mental Health challenges about 25 yrs ago and in fact still faces them today. I used the word “Challenges instead of Issues” Because, Magazines have issues and Humans face Challenges.
Because, I’ve Cared and assisted her for so many years, I realized that I needed to gain more knowledge on Mental Health. Which lead me to Mental Health Coaching and Being An Advocate for Mental Health.
I’ve learned that through my own Lived Experiences that I can serve my community as well as others. Being able to connect with other individuals that is and or have gone through similar situations and experiences that I have is a Blessing. Even if I can’t Connect with them through their experiences , I can connect with feelings.
Sometimes People just need someone to listen more so than anything.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my Bestfriend was visiting Atlanta and I was asked to show them my city. The first stop would be Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, I love EVERYTHING about this place(Food, drinks and most of all the customer service)
. A couple of others includes: Agave, Ponce City Market, Botanical Gardens, Six Feet Under and The Atlanta History Center.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Children (Lantesia , Horace, Latesha and Marcus) are My Biggest Supporters as well as My Fiancé (Derrick Warner).We have been through so much together and we are blessed to have each other. My Children was raised on Love. Therefore they know how to Love and how to be Loved.
