To pivot or to persevere? Or more bluntly – to give up or to not to give up? This is a haunting question, a question that has ramifications far after an answer has been chosen and it’s also a question that almost everyone in our community has had to face at one time or another. What has helped me over the years to keep going or to just give up is knowing that my career, and the work I do has a purpose. Yes, the number one goal is to earn an income and take care of your responsibilities. But, the other goal is to also know if the work that you do can make an impact on the lives of those you are serving, in your community, and even on the lives of those working with you. Being a chef, caterer, and entrepreneur in the foodservice industry is a very tough task. Making the decision to move on is not easy, but I am the kind of person that always keep going unless I must give up. Otherwise, I will still choose to keep going even if there is only a 1% chance. So, how to know if your decision is appropriate? From my personal perspective, I would look into one’s past experiences and imagine at least three results.
