To pivot or to persevere? Or more bluntly – to give up or to not to give up? This is a haunting question, a question that has ramifications far after an answer has been chosen and it’s also a question that almost everyone in our community has had to face at one time or another. How do you know when to give up and when to keep trying?

Artistic/Creative career fields are brutal. At a younger age I always just presumed that we can do it if we put our mind to it, and while this is true, rarely do others adequately prepare you for the constant rejection we face in this field. Keep going in whatever your trying to do. You never who watching and you don’t want to miss out on any possibility or opportunity. Think about it, if I wasn’t posting my art & music for years I probably wouldn’t have this interview. It gets hard sometimes but you gotta believe you can make something happen especially coming from the ghettos I’m from. Well, nobody really knows when to call it quits or not. There will always be that “What if?” factor that will either push you forward or chain you down. The best solution I’ve come up with is taking a break. Take a week or a month off of whatever you’re working on. Once the sabbatical is over, think about whether you’re still excited and passionate about what you were doing. If you aren’t, that should be your cue to let it go. Read more>>
